Unless he spreadeagles the field again I dont think beating mogul, English king and Highland chief is anything remotely close to being a level of form needed to beat the older horses in an Arc
September 12, 2020 at 18:57 #1501151Hoping he will.
September 12, 2020 at 20:09 #1501162I think you can genuinely ask the same questions of Enable this season form wise that people are of Love, she ran well in the Eclipse but her performance there is judged by most on the distance she finished behind Ghaiyyath and his ability rather than what she had behind her (and I am solely talking about this seasons form here for those beaten horses), she won what was effectively a match race against Sovereign once Japan bombed out and don’t get me started on the Kempton race. Obviously unlike Love she has shown in previous seasons with the horses that she has beaten that she is a high class mare but amongst that excellent form it cannot be ignored that she wasn’t good enough last year albeit by the tiniest of margins and she was slightly fortunate to beat Sea Of Class. I saw one person not on here but on social media making a big thing about Love having not faced a colt yet which I found hilarious, talk about the 3 year-old fillies being rubbish, which amazing 3 year-old colt has she dodged so far? The fact is there is no decent 12F opposition bar Enable in amongst the older horses either. There is nothing bar Enable over 12F outside of her own yard she could have beaten that would have impressed anyone.
It is difficult to compare across age groups, the question I keep finding myself coming back to is do I think Love is a better filly than Sea Of Class was and although its ultimately a matter of opinion, I’d say at this stage of their respective careers she almost certainly is. You do have to factor in that Enable had a troubled season the year she beat Sea Of Class of course but by the same token it isn’t a given she retains all her ability she had as a 3 year-old now she’s 6 either.
September 12, 2020 at 20:25 #1501163Sea of class beat good yardsticks like coronet comfortably before the arc, we knew she was top class
Love has beaten cloak of spirits, who is 0 from 4 since
Ennistymon in the Oaks who is 0 from 4 since
And albinista who has only ever won a maiden and listed race (in admittedly few runs)
At the current prices I just can’t have love as any kind of value, I’m not saying she can’t win just that at 2/1 no meat is left on the bone
Whereas Enable has been there and done it and is a bigger price and has been raced the entire season with only the Arc in mind
Anyone on Love at nice antepost prices has a cracking bet on their hands but surely a saver on Enable is the play for any of those people holding those tickets.
An additional worry would be if the rain came as Love has a fairly low daisy cutting action, though the long range weather forecast up to the 25th has little or no rain and plenty of sun in Paris so that may not come into it this year
September 12, 2020 at 20:44 #1501165Enable -been there and done it yes. But there lies the problem. No 6 year old has ever won the Arc.
September 12, 2020 at 21:01 #1501210How many top horses are still in training at 6 to have tried?
September 12, 2020 at 21:02 #1501211we’ll see if One Voice gives love a form boost tomorrow
September 13, 2020 at 07:42 #1501326Cannot believe there are still people out there trying to pick holes in Love! How much further does she have to win by and how much faster does she have to run on the clock before they realise she is outstanding?
Providing she is OK and the ground does not become a bog, I cannot see anything beating her – especially with her being in receipt of the allowances. From his interviews, I reckon Gosden knows that Enable will struggle to beat her.
September 13, 2020 at 11:51 #1501348I’d fancy Love to beat Enable at level weights , trying to give her 6lbs seems near impossible to me , as great as she,s been her runs this year haven’t been to a standard to win a arc
September 13, 2020 at 15:01 #1501383Cashed out Serpentine for a small profit. Though not ridden as i thought.
September 13, 2020 at 15:02 #1501384Either mogul has taken a massive step forward or the 3yos are even worse than i thought
Hes won that very easily
Boudot is mustard tbf, gave him a lovely ride
Coolmore strategy was clearly not to lead with serpentine, which hasnt worked at all
Id argue with PCB on mogul and soumillon on serpentine that mogul was the stable first strong on jockey bookings
If Mogul wins the Arc then this may be the most confusing horse ever
September 13, 2020 at 15:24 #1501400Love better than Mogul i think.
The tactics with Serpentine left the form of that race a bit iffy to me.September 13, 2020 at 15:25 #1501401Serpentine wins the Derby making all. Let’s hold him up this time!
At least Coolmore have got a 3yo Group 1 win into their expensive purchase. I doubt we will be seeing him at Leopardstown on Boxing Day now! (See juvenile hurdlers thread).
September 15, 2020 at 18:00 #1501637It’s looking more and more like a race to sit back and enjoy, but I’ve bet two outsiders anyway.
They might not trouble the big guns, but for a bit of added interest, I’ve went with Persian King and In Swoop, both ew at 33-1.
September 24, 2020 at 18:42 #1503145September 25, 2020 at 12:44 #1503244There’s a headline (I am not able to read the full article) that says “Andre Fabre opts to roll the dice with Persian King in audacious Arc bid.”
September 25, 2020 at 14:18 #1503275If the going is soft I will take a gamble on Stradivarius because his stamina could come into play at the end of the race.
