SoC should be ok jack, think her hold up style and the fact that the ground was bad enough and the opposition was good enough to get far enough ahead for it not to be tempting to push her probably saved her. If she was a horse that liked to eyeball the opposition and get into a scrap then it would have been much harder on her. Fair dues to James Doyle…win or lose he is good on camera in the post race interviews, seems to be in sympathy with his horses.
I think, Jack, that Haggas is bitterly regretting running the filly on that ground. Heavens opened AFTER he’d decided to run her, but my first thought on watching it was that he’d be really annoyed with himself, which I think he is.
Great performance from Crystal Ocean, really pleased he has a Group 1 now. Thankful that James Doyle is such a good jockey and took good care of Sea Of Class in conditions that didn’t suit her.
