Well who knows this might be the last one for a while:
3.35 Down Royal Golazo 7-4 1pt win
The 3 year old (well, rising 4- but the birthday party will have to be delayed) has been agitating to go racing for weeks so I loaded her up and drove down to Down Royal. The roads are wet, the fields are wet, it has been raining most of the day. We parked at Gowdy’s – there were 6 cars in the carpark- and walked to the rail where the course crosses the road and said hello to the flag man. We saw the mares go off at the start of the bumper and then waited in the rain with a big umbrella pulled down tight over our heads for them to come round again, gave them a cheer and that was that. As we climbed back into the car she said, ” I wanted to watch more racing”. Downpatrick in the summer, I said.
Managed to score a loaf of bread (the second last one) in Culcavy Centra on the way home so you know, silver linings and all that
