Might add some more later if I’m able to watch the racing- 4 decent cards and my eyes are spinning in all directions.
Aintree is a really good card but I don’t know enough about the horses. Expensive nags in the maiden and some likely types in the mares’ bumper. Henry de Bromhead has sent Plan of Attack over…interesting. Might have a pound on Kalashnikov in the big race.
Wincanton likewise, too many unknowns for me but interesting card. I want to see how Bill and Barn and Jeremy Sunshine get on for their new stables.
Wexford- looking at the other Mullins ones here and Mount Hanover as well
Galway- may not be able to keep my finger off the button. Drying ground may help Galvin. Portmore Lough has all important recent course form but Shady Operator keep good company last year and I might have to throw more money after Nambour.
Monkshood used to be good and maybe first time out is the time to catch a bleeder. Le Hachette should be in the mix too.
Bumper looks competitive. Emmet Mullins runs one and does well here. After iron rations of one jumps meet per day in the summer, and sometimes not even that, I could feast myself sick.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 27, 2019 at 13:29 #1472982Probably better going left handed, over further, in softer ground, with a prep run but I want to watch the race so:

Pts staked 271Err..I’ve had better punting but a fine afternoon’s racing at a net cost of £6 so worth it.
Kalanisi Og beaten fair and square by the nice looking mare Mount Ida.
Quartz du Rheu beaten fair and square by Foveros, both decent horses.
Jazzaway too keen- hood next time?Watching White Moon I was concerned that he was hurdling some fences with his head up but was counting my money as he surged to the last full of running…then finally paid for his jumping technique. Splat! Hope he is OK and not too shaken up or sore from it.
Conversely Plan of Attack‘s good de Bromhead jumping saved me from a whitewash today and he was brave to get back up on the line.
Bill and Barn finished as befitted his price but I think that was quite a good race with some decent horses who travelled and jumped him out of it. He was a bit careful over his fences but I wouldn’t rule him out over further and softer.
I fear that was one fall too many forNambour. I don’t even know if he got up
Monkshood travelled and hurdled very nicely but then emptied out as predicted by his market drift.
I have counted a 0.5 losing bet on Galvin in my total. He wasn’t travelling or jumping particularly well before he came down but worth keeping an eye on still. Cap York was quite decent but Battleoverdoyen was the highlight of the day even though I had no money on him for this or the RSA. He looked super and jumped beautifully considering it was his first start and Galway is probably the trickiest track in Ireland.Cracking little race tomorrow with Champagne Classic, Discorama and Kupatana fighting it out and Roaring Bull having a spin round but I’m not going to guess the winner of this or anything else tomorrow on the evidence of today’s punting efforts so replays it is.
October 27, 2019 at 23:58 #1473026Still waiting on news of Nambour, good or bad.
October 29, 2019 at 09:59 #1473116Was struck by Tizzard’s comment last week that they schooled 50 horses over jumps and Copperhead jumped best of all. Likely out for an educational round but worth a place bet in an 8 runner race. Will watch Finawn Bawn in the same race as stable sound keen.
3.25 Chepstow Copperhead 1 pt place evs
October 29, 2019 at 15:35 #1473136Copperhead jumped quite well just ran a bit green at times and got tired. Finawn Bawn more scopey looking and gained ground at each fence except the last where a mistake took the wind out of his sails a bit. Decent start for both and Finawn Bawn looks a nice prospect.

1.10 Emily Moon w/o Daylight Katie+ Jeremys Flame 6/4 1pt win
1.45 Coeur Sublime 6/4 2pts winOff to Down Royal later
Going to sit back and watch Samcro’s race but I have to put something on elsewhereSo have chosen Emily Moon- a biggish mare who hopefully just blew up a bit on reappearance and may come on for it- and Coeur Sublime who goes well fresh.
November 1, 2019 at 17:44 #1473489Just back from a good day out at Down Royal. A still, damp old day and evening so even if there is no rain tonight there will be no drying at all.
Some thoughts:
Fury Road looked good in the paddock and won very easily. Bois de Clamart, Face the Odds and Enjoy d’Allen all going to be chasers by the look of them. So Near So Farhh, despite being an unprepossessing Flat four year old with a white ringed eye who looked like a little rat beside the big horses actually walked quite well in the paddock and travelled OK for a good way. A summer handicap hurdler in time perhaps.Emily Moon looked a nice big shape of a mare in the paddock, travelled well then folded like a deck of cards again. Perhaps the ground went against her but she had travelled well on it and faded too quickly for it to be that. They hadn’t gone a ridiculous gallop or anything so no excuse. Will avoid over the winter. I don’t think the Cheltenham mares’ novice winner left her box today.
Coeur Sublime– as per big race thread. The right horse won but a falsely run race, impossible to assess. Coko Beach is a slightly bony looking creature who isn’t the finished article yet.
Samcro looked quite happy and the little crowd of us down at the last fence breathed a collective sigh of relief when he popped it safely. (Not that he ever looked in danger but just, you know…aeroplanes are safe too but you still think ” Oh good, we didn’t crash” when you touch down). He got a good cheer from the crowd coming home alone.

2.25 DRoy Clan des Obeaux 2-1

Pts staked 279There is a nice card at Cork today. I’ll start off with a couple of Mullins horses and see how things go.
Going to give Farid another chance; stable preview says he works well at home. Perhaps the ease in the ground will help; he won his French race on soft.
I’ve backed Drury on the basis of her form with Rocket Lad who I think is a good horse.Cork
1.00 Farid 6-1
1.35 Drury 5-1
Both 1 pt winNovember 3, 2019 at 14:02 #1473851Cork
2.10 Blazing Emily 2-1 1pt win
2.45 Ex Patriot 11/2 0.5pt win
2.45 Dandy Mag 20-1 1pt ewNovember 3, 2019 at 14:18 #14738532.30 Carlisle Count Meribel 6/5 1 pt win w/o Lostintranslation
November 3, 2019 at 14:28 #1473855Humph, perhaps they did too much in front or they are not all that. Blazing Emily seemed to run in snatches a bit. Will probably leave her alone next time.
Onwards and probably downwards!
Bet my TTF horse to beat Kildisart in the hope that the Pauling horse not fit enough and too short a trip (watch My Old Gold beat them both now!).
I have a soft spot for Ex Patriot, although he jumps slightly left. This trainer can have them ready to go first time out so will see what he can do. Also had a go on Dandy Mag who is less likely to get taken off his little feet on this ground if they go a steadier pace. He came 3rd in the Alan de Breuil on soft too. A very interesting race in prospect. I wonder how Sayo’s jumping will hold up when he has some better competition. The Giggi horses both look good too. I hope Brahma Bull doesn’t break himself or anybody else.November 3, 2019 at 14:56 #1473865Who’s been schooling Brahma Bull? They deserve a prize! Can they please also school Dandy Mag as he jumped badly and did well to stick with the pace for as long as he did. Back over hurdles maybe? He is quite small.
Not only did I desert the Bull, but he also scuppered my bets on the race. I would have had a nice little haul. Still though, can’t be annoyed, the big dope was enjoying himself and jumped respectably, he deserved to win and it is nice to see a much happier picture than last time.November 5, 2019 at 12:21 #1474065-1
Pts staked 285.5Haldon Gold Cup Dolos 9-2 1pt win
(Now avail at 5s)I should also count the loss on Gun Digger in the Cork National but I did also back Jukebox Jive in the Nov handicap (only 50p ew!) but didn’t put him up here.
So I will count neither. - AuthorPosts
