Apparently broke a shoulder in the Victor Chandler Chase on Saturday. The are hoping to save him with surgery.
More bad news.January 23, 2011 at 21:52 #337436Really sorry to hear this. Apparently he will need pins in the fractured shoulder. I presume that is the end of his racing career ?
Lets hope he recovers from the operation and enjoys the rest of his lifeJanuary 23, 2011 at 22:06 #337440Racing career is over if the reports are true above
January 23, 2011 at 22:17 #337443Howard Johnson would probably get him back on the racecourse.

January 24, 2011 at 07:15 #337468It does sound like a very nasty injury.
I wish Petit Robin all the best with the operation, and hope he makes a full recovery.

Heartbreaking for exeryone involved with the horse to them he’ll be like one of the family. Heart goes out to them.
Maybe not the right time to bring this up but I just can’t believe these bookies……I was watching the VC and noticed Petit Robon was actually going better than anything, including Master Minded when he came down.
I thought about backing him ew in the QMCC if he was a decent price but when I looked one particular bookies had pushed him out to 50/1 after the race which I thought was very strange and set the alarm bells ringing in my head.
The grapevine is very quick and you could bet they know something was amiss well before most punters do. I would like to think they never took any unsuspecting punters money and if they did they return it to them.
What’s amazing is it’s 2 days on and SportingBet,Paddy Power, Hills, Betfred and Skybet are still showing prices for the horse on the Bettingzone.
They should get their houses in order.January 24, 2011 at 10:25 #337472

You’re sick
January 24, 2011 at 17:57 #337513I read this morning that they are hoping he will race again as the fracture was not displaced, a hairline one I suspect, even though he is having it screwed . Poor Petit Robin, lets hope he can have a full recovery.
January 24, 2011 at 20:11 #337528After falling he did lurch straight over to the far rail taking Kalahari King with him.
Best wishes for a full recovery to him.

I noticed that cause it cost me a fortune. I sincerely hope the horse gets well though, sounds nasty
January 25, 2011 at 04:08 #337549Same here but not a fortune. I was arguing with someone (not too serious!) before the VC that Petit Robin would win a G1. He called him a "Grade 3 horse". Fool. In a sick turn of fate it appears he was right, he wont win a Grade 1 after this.

We’ll never know Nulty and I’m not just saying this because he was injured. The way it turned out I honestly think he’d just about have won. Certainly was going better than anything when he fell……..Group 3 his backside, you don’t have to win a Gr 1 to be a Group 1 horse or there would be only one or two, 2 milers, qualify in the entire country
Good news on the shoulder hopefully it’s much the same as breaking ribs like MM did and he can bounce back and make a full recovery.
Anyone know the time scale on a fractured shoulder healing?

I would imagine it would be at least 1 year.
With Petit Robin being a jumps horse too, it puts more emphasis on the shoulder healing really well, as opposed to being a flat horse, where he wouldn’t have to negotiate fences, etc…
I imagine that he will be very reluctant to utilise the shoulder/leg, after surgery. He will need a long period of box rest, but then it will be up to the vet and the yard representatives to formulate a plan to get him moving and turning him out when he feels comfortable, etc…
They will want to get him exercising in hand and possibly lunging, when the time is right, to get some movement back in the shoulder area.
He will no doubt be in the best of care, so is lucky in that respect.
