Wouldn’t be so bad if he had said something earlier but he came in after it all died out and rekindled the flame.

Then CS comes on and calls people clowns…….who were calling people clowns  It’s like lets have another fight lads the last one was fun

It’s only a forum not life and death ffs.

Congratuations on turning the thread into another pointless slanging match chaps.

What in the name of sweet Jesus were you hoping for TDK?

What else is there to offer other than an opinion on the man himself?

I notice that you didn’t attempt to answer your own question or offer a reason why you think PN doesn’t seem to take criticism well?

Talk about lighting the touch paper and running!

Ask the Corm to delete it if you can no longer stand the embarrassment!

    Sorry

This Forum could be so good, it was the first one I joined & I was delighted to realise I knew graysonscolumn through our QC conection. Since then alas for me there is too much cyber bickering going on & quite honestly it has spoilt my emjoyment, so I rarely post now. Is there any chance of starting the New Year having good honest debates & opinions without resorting to what seems to me at times, nastiness.

Where there’s life, there’s hope, QC. I’ve just PMd you about Orpen Wide! :)

I saw the Nicholls interview after the KG when he slagged Tom Segal who presumably had opposed KS in the RP.

Nicholls was going on about all the people who knock KS. Are we not allowed to knock him then? Yes, he has a remarkable haul of prizes to his name at a range of distances, but he will never imo win another Chelt Gold Cup, and the horse has on occasions been extremely disappointing – of that there is no question. If a horse has a tendency to throw in the odd poor performance when long odds on then he will not endear himself to the betting public, especially the small accumulator and placepot/jackopt punters who have seen him defeated as their "banker" bet of the card.

I would also argue that KS’s 3 King George wins were not against the best 3m chasers around – in two of the races his main market rival was a suispect stayer (Monets and VPU). I think Nicholls needs to stop this persecution complex and stop trying to bully everyone into believing KS is a superstar – he is very good but not imo the star Nicholls would have us believe.

I think what gets to Paul Nicholls is that Kauto Star is rated a 180+ horse by Timeform and yet does not seem to be appreciated. So what if he gets beat now and again. Unsuited by Cheltenham and made that blunder / found the race coming too soon at Antree. Before Cheltenham he was awsome at Kempton and Ascot. Since Timeform began, only 5 horses have ever been rated better. Capable of showing outstanding form from 2m to 3m and a little below that form at 3m2f. There were excuses for the other losses, only Haydock can really be said to be a real disappointment. As I have said, that came (imo) at the start of a lul in form for the stable. Also, without those two blunders nobody would’ve been talking about Kauto being on the downgrade.

I don’t think Nicholls is trying to bully, just does not believe his Star is fairly treated. Like all parents think of their children. But I disagree Firefox, I do believe Kauto Star has now endered himself to the betting public. Just because he probably is not as good at Cheltenham, does not matter.

Press and public are allowed to voice our opinions about KS, but so too is Nicholls entitled to give his opinion about the media. Right or wrong.
