Imo, Big Zeb is head and shoulders above these, and looks an absolute steal at the current 13/8.

I’m not so sure Reet.
He was a supposed steal last December when trailing in 33 lengths behind Twist Magic and his trainer is already making excuses for him because of the ground.
You could be right but this could become very tactical and Captain Cee Bee may be the one with the best turn of foot. He certainly showed Big Zeb a clean pair of heels the last time they were involved in a finish albeit a long time ago.
Should be great race to watch whatever the outcome.
December 29, 2010 at 10:06 #334119Big Zeb for me, although Golden Silver ( a previous winner of this race ) may prove a more difficult nut to crack than Captain Cee Bee.

December 29, 2010 at 11:11 #334124Judging by his win at Navan, I think Big Zeb is better than ever. I will be surprised if he doesn’t confirm the form with Golden Silver.
I was a huge fan of CB last year, however I don’t think he will make the step up.

December 29, 2010 at 11:56 #334130I’m slightly surprised that McCoy hasn’t stayed over to ride Captain Cee Bee.
I know he has a great book of rides at Newbury but I’d have thought JP would have been keen to claim him for CCB.

AP takes the ride on Punchestowns at Newbury, while Barry G deserts that horse to ride Big Zeb in Ireland – all of which tells its own story.
The 13/8 for BZ is long gone though.December 29, 2010 at 12:16 #334135Who wouldn’t want to go ride Big Bucks lads.
The ground has gone against CCB but I think Mark Walsh will be more than capable on him.
Race of the meeting for me, three top class 2-milers.
December 29, 2010 at 13:35 #334162I love Captain Cee Bee and think he is a fantastic horse, but that was not very good from him today.
Was never travelling, never going a yard, jumped badly, and didnt get away from his fences, which is a must, especially over 2 miles.
Big Zeb did what he needed to do, and im sure he will come on for that, and better ground.
December 29, 2010 at 13:36 #334163Crack performance by Big Zeb
Golden Silver seems ponderous jumper off a fast pace which was in that race today. That writes him completely off for the Festival. He just has 2 ways of going and with the fast pace and big field the festival is the complete opposite of what he wants!

Wouldn’t be too sure that the pace was any more than ordinary, with all 4 horses within 4l at the last and the modest Scotsirish finishing only 3l behind the winner suggesting it wasn’t the severest of tests.
Truth is, I’d expected BG to make more use of Big Zeb as he doesn’t have a massive turn of foot, and – though he jumped and travelled like much the best horse in the race – it was only the lack of proper pace that allowed the others to get anywhere near him.
Doubt Golden Silver will ever be good enough to beat him, whatever the pace.December 29, 2010 at 16:26 #334193Although having backed Big Zeb today, and let’s be honest, he won a shade cosily; but as things stand, the connections of Master Minded won’t be overly concerned about their main Cheltenham challenger – at this stage at least.
