I guess Paddy P’s already doing an Irish dance all over my Qilin Queen bet Ginge 😅 but she doesn’t owe me any money after her last race so I’ve re-invested in her. Fillies can be unpredictable so it’s going to be an interesting race.
Best of luck with those plays Ginge :good: Jac

Charlie Appleby has just been interviewed on RTV and I have rarely heard him sound so confident about a horse’s prospects as he does about those of Desert Flower.

She may well outclass the opposition, but that nagging stamina doubt remains, and that’s why I have opposed her with Giselle.

I saw that Glad, he couldn’t take the smile off his face. Hope it’s still there in the next 10 minutes.
Desert Flower looked fabulous going to post, a wee bit keen but dhe looks like she’s enjoying herself.
Good luck with Giselle almost off….

Nothing happened after the 1st furlong. I’d have to say the first two could be very very good.

Well done Mike and all winners she was amazing and what a good price :good:

Desert Flower got stuck on the rail and couldn’t get into her stride. But no excuses..Who can beat The Maestro?

Desert Flower palpably didn’t act on the track.
First time on an undulating track and around a turn.

Yes it must have felt strange for her Ginge, lesson learnt but they had to go for it. :rose:

Minnie Hauk was hanging down the track and Moore said she was still green once she got to the front – I think she would confirm that form against the 2nd (who had the run of the race up front and has more racing experience) if there was a rematch especially on a flatter more galloping track.

Looking at the replay Desert Flower was being niggled at just before the turn in (I don’t think she handle the downhill run into the turn as well as the first two did but I also don’t think it cost her the race either) but considering she was a 1000g winner she didn’t seem to have the pace to go with the first two up the straight and while she did grab 3rd late on it wasn’t a performance that screamed this is my optimum trip.

I don’t see her beating the front two over 12F even on a flatter track so I would expect to see her dropped back in trip (maybe 10F) as I also don’t think she is quick enough to deal with a now fit Lake Victoria over a mile. Don’t forget that the first seven home in the 1000g were covered by just 2¾L and as we know Lake Victoria simply wasn’t ready so it might not have been the strongest race in retrospect.

Seperately it would appear at the moment that it pays to be handy at Epsom today so it will be interesting to see if that trends stays for tomorrow although the if they get the full amount of the potential rain due, it could be all change.

Lordon being a good number 2 driver as they call it in Formula 1. Looked like Whirl was going better than Ryan’s filly and had the rail to boot. I know Ryan’s been beaten in classics before but it tends to be when his mount runs a stinker and unfortunately when it gets close you get the Adelaide River rides. The trouble is I dont know that the winner was the best filly or the one that was supposed to win and when you find yourself even asking that question you have a problem. And no pocket talking here didnt have a bet.
