Had Nyaleti 6th the other day…..

August 25, 2017 at 15:50 #1315593Well done Marsha backers. I backed her at Royal Ascot and Goodwood, not today.

Shame the big two didn’t perform to their best; particularly Battaash – had a hard season.
Ward and Hills are in ok form at the moment. Sir Mark is in great form.
Value Is EverythingAugust 25, 2017 at 15:51 #1315595Very well done, Marsha
.
She was my heroine last year, but today I feared her best days were over
Battaash showed no good signs beforehand, probably he couldn’t hold his nerves.
Frankie obviously has his quirks, his gestures were so highly embarrassing
.August 25, 2017 at 15:52 #1315596Gutted.
I was spot on that Lady A would beat Battaash by 5 lengths but I didn’t think Marsha would improve that much.
Front two are two fantastic fillies
You certainly were right MOM, two great horses. What a race

August 25, 2017 at 15:56 #1315597Wonder what the whip ban will be for Luke?
6 times one after the other.Value Is EverythingAugust 25, 2017 at 15:59 #1315599I dont think you can take that literally as battash, it was to bad to be true tying in with marshas form LTO
August 25, 2017 at 16:17 #1315606Having had a look at the horses that finished in behind:
On form, if Cotai Glory had run to form I would expect him to be beaten 4 1/2 lengths by Lady A. It was 3 3/4 here.
On form I’d have expected Priceless to have been beated 5 3/4 lengths. He was beaten 5 1/2.So it seems Lady Aurelia was around 3 lbs below her best.
Marsha ran to around the same form at Goodwoos as Ascot, but arguably she was not at her best then. Newmarket form looked better and she must have improved quite a bit on even that with Sir Mark in excellent form..Value Is EverythingAugust 25, 2017 at 16:29 #1315613GET IN!!! I am a Frankie fan and he was a silly boy celebrating when it was that close.
But to be fair to him at real speed and at first I thought he had held on.
There was me cursing and Mrsraymo is saying “are you sure your horse lost?”. What do I know!! LOL

Well done Raymo!
Wouldn’t have backed either of the top two race winners today, even if I bet after they’d gone past the post.Your story reminds me of when Neptune Collonges won the Grand National, I was cursing Daryl Jacob after the line for leaving it too late.
Value Is EverythingAugust 25, 2017 at 16:51 #1315616I forgot to say.. well done Raymo
Should have said after the race but my dissapointment was too much at the time.
At least she won at Ascot for me when it was worth so much more
August 25, 2017 at 17:35 #1315622Well done Raymo.

Must admit enjoyed that race far more for not having a bet on it- good to see great horses battle it out without the distraction of thinking about money- this “gambling” lark is overrated
August 25, 2017 at 17:39 #1315623My two main bets today were Dartmouth & Lady Aurelia

Battaash unfortunately, just isn’t the superstar many thought whereas Lady Aurelia has done nothing to dent her reputation – she is still a megastar.
Marsha did improve last year as the season went on and it is possible she’s just doing the same again not the Autumn is approaching. And I’ve always thought the only way to beat Lady A is to be ballsy and come as late as possible.
August 25, 2017 at 17:39 #1315624Had Marsha at 10/1. She was given a much more prominent ride today than at Ascot – in the early stages Luke Morris was urging to get closer to the pace – and that’s paid off. My initial thought is that Lady Aurelia has ran her race, but Marsha has ran a career best. Can’t wait to see her in the Abbaye.
August 25, 2017 at 19:11 #1315637People should not be writing off Battaash for one poor performance, he doesn’t deserve that after progressive form shown this season. One thing I am sure of, Cotai Glory is not the best sprinter in Charlie Hills yard. In future need to see if temperament gets the better of Battaash. Seemed to lose the race before the start today, running a long way below his best. The old cliche “horses are not machines” comes to mind.
Hopefully we’ll see Marsha V Lady Aurelia V Battaash again; after the American has been back for what her trainer calls a “rest”.
Value Is EverythingAugust 25, 2017 at 19:16 #1315639Aye, nice one, Raymo!
Wouldn’t write off poor Battaash yet. Got warm and on his toes in paddock and it steadily got worse. When Crowley dismounted at the start and was interviewed you could see one of those dry-mouthed swallows before he answered.
I had a quick look at the Timeform stuff earlier and from what I could see they had the front two miles clear on ratings – well over a stone, I think – goes to show, another Kauto V Denman. Two horse races seldom turn out to be just that at this level.

I always forgive a horse one run, and I believe everyone should.
The Racing UK team were of the assumption that Battaash compromised his chances by putting it up to Lady A early on and hence Cotai Glory, who was given a ride-for-a-place ride, managed to get past late on. I don’t think anyone believes Cotai is a better horse than his stable-mate just like no-one thinks Tupi is a better horse than Caravaggio.

No Joe, what were you looking at? Timeform didn’t rate the pair “well over a stone” clear of the rest.
Lady Aurelia was 11 lbs clear of the third top rated, 11 lbs is usually around 2 3/4 lengths at 5f.
Battash was 8 lbs clear of the third top rated, 8 lbs is usually around 2 lengths.
The third top rated horse was Marsha.
They’ve provisionally upped Marsha X lbs.Value Is Everything - AuthorPosts
