She looked unhappy there and all but pulled up. 5f on fast ground not her thing it seems.

Thought I’d lost the previous post. LOL

tbh Many put their horses in here thinking they’d have a chance of placing, but that ground isn’t just good-firm, it’s firm! Plenty have enough speed for 5f on good or even good-firm, very few will have enough speed to be anywhere near Battaash at 5f on a speed racecourse like York on firm ground… And that’s if they act at all, many act on good-firm but not firm. Having brought over horses from Ireland they’re less likely to take them out due to ground/fastness of the race.

Yes, I thought Fairyland wouldn’t have the pace for this either, but neither did I think Circus Maximus had the pace for a mile or Japan for 10f. Had they gone fast on good ground then Fairyland would’ve had a chance of picking up the pieces. Conditions were too fast for her today.

That was impressive credit where its due. Ten Soverigns didnt rin his race today whether that was dpwn to 5f at york being too fast or if he just wasnt a
On his a game today im not sure, possibly a cpmbination of both and Ryan didnt ride the best race according to k manning. All said winner was superb.

All Irish jockeys criticise Ryan Moore at every opportunity, they don’t like the Englishman taking their rides. ;-)

Hope you don’t mind me saying Potato, but… Although I love your supreme over-confidence mate… and to a degree your exaggeration too… If every tip is accompanied with those two attributes then it runs the risk of said confidence being totally ignored by TRFers when you do have winners. :rose:

Was it just me that thinks Ten Sovereigns raced with head high today? Hating the ground?

I wonder is TenS the new Battaash to a degree, throwing in one or two stinkers but when he’s good he’s very good.

GET IN !! Winner at 5/2 Second each way and the forecast too!!

Ten Sovereigns was out of his comfort zone as soon as the stalls opened. He doesn’t have the basic speed needed to win these blink and you will miss it races :good: :good:

The July Cup is a very different test to the Nunthorpe even on similar ground and with TS being drawn away from the speed as well the tactics he used at Newmarket were never going to work today – the ground may have been faster than ideal (not convinced 100% on that part) but I am not sure he is a 5F horse anyway.

It will be interesting to see if he comes over for the 6F Sprint Cup at Haydock as that has been run on soft/heavy ground the last three years (although that might not suit him either).

On his day Battash is a world beater and today was one of those days.

Well done MOM and others on the winner. :good: :good:

And LD I can’t see them coming over with TS for Haydock.

    I noticed that too.

Ten Sov’s would not have been fast enough to cope with Battaash anyway, just the ground may have been the main reason for such a dismal effort. Don’t think Ten Sovereigns wants soft ground, LD; he’s fine on proper good-firm. Just that firm (he’s a heavy horse) may not suit.

It is as it is and I am how I am.

I was very very confident that Ten Soverigns would bang up today. He didnt thats racing.

I dont think its correct that I should pretend to not be confident when I am.

When im not confident then i dont post.

If Trfers choose to ignore then thats fine.

I would actually suggest the correct way to read is what I say, weigh it up yourself with your own opinion if we agree jump on in if we dont then do your own thing.

Wouldnt expect anythng else but my posting style is my style and i wouldnt change

Potato as I said earlier your posts are amusing and make me laugh. It was honestly just banter with you earlier but you should carry on posting as you want as it brings character to the thread. I didn’t want to say earlier in case I was left with massive red face but surely TS is a 6F horse? He was so strong at the finish in the July Cup. I still believe in him and what it probably means is we can get better odds for the Haydock Sprint.

Saying that Ten Soverign isnt a 5f sprinter on the basis of one unplaced run is flawed. He may still turn out to be a 5f horse.

A lot of people after the race ‘knew’ he wasnt a 5f horse.

Aiden O’Brien knows a thing or two about horses and didnt have to run him in that race he could have ran over 6f. Aiden clearly felt he could win over 5f and had stated he worked like a 5f horse at home.

He would have been beaten over 6f yesterday. Just wasnt right.

I wouldnt be surprised if he goes for the sprint at the breeders cup meeting later in the year though havent heard of any plans.

So pleased for Charlie hills that Bataash showed his true running today . Never thought I’d see dayjurs time beaten.Ten sovereigns was never happy on the ground. The fact that so perfect finished well ahead of the horse and mabs cross shows the ground was the key. I’m sure with decent ground at haydock both ten sovereigns and mabs cross will fight it out. Some horses cope with fast ground some don’t. Ten sovereigns looks a tricky horse to train and I hope they keep him in training as he looks like he will be much better as a 4 year old but if he scoots up at haydock it will be off to fratinise with the ladies at stud for about 50 grand a pop I’d guess. With no may Nevers popularity soaring I’m sure the lads can’t wait to cover loads of the Galileo mares with ten sovereigns. Galileo can’t go on for ever but with the massive bank of top fillies his influence will be felt for decades.
