Had to take a chance with Pont Aven at Gowran Park today. His last run went badly wrong, and he was dismounted after a few fences, but his runs prior to that would put him bang there. Also concerning is that going by the market, Fan De Blues is stable first string, but that support was after I bet Pont Aven.
Hoping he can give a good account anyway, in a decent looking race.
1555 Gowran Park – Pont Aven 8’s
March 12, 2021 at 23:13 #1529254Clearly something far wrong with Pont Aven, and that’s second race in a row that’s happened.
Was expecting a quiet weekend, but bet a few.
Bet Annsam in the big Novice Chase Antepost, and topped up once declared.
Caventara is a nice horse, and the opening 7’s was fair, and I took same for Any Second Now.
In the 1630 at Navan, I had a slight preference for School Boy Hours over Spades Are Trumps.
1507 Ayr – Caventara 7’s
Paddy’s Reward Club – Annsam 16’s
Webster Cup – Any Second Now 7’s
1630 Navan – School Boy Hours 7’sMarch 13, 2021 at 17:24 #1529387Well done with Any Second Now, got in ahead of the gamble as well
March 13, 2021 at 18:07 #1529393Thanks Tommy, made my day that one, hopefully sets him up nicely for Aintree.
March 14, 2021 at 01:15 #1529415Sunday’s cards are definitely better than Saturdays, particularly at Naas, and considering a few of them, but I’ll wait and see how The Leinster National goes, otherwise it’ll be smaller bets later on.
Ten Ten was the main fancy before it was priced up, and he still is, but the 18’s for Fitzhenry was unreal, and I had to bet him as well. I fully expected a bigger price for Scoir Mear, but he’s not been missed, and he’s the saver.
Shadow Rider looks fairly strong in the next, but too short for me. I thought that Belfast Banter had a fair EW chance, but the drift is a bit of a worry. Any luck in The Leinster National, and I’ll top up. Same combination for Belfast Banter team up with Suprise Package, who’s got some promise. Owned
The 1535 is a tough one, and good to see Ben Dundee back, but too short for me after a fair old break. I’ll chance Campeador though at 7’s. Has ran respectably this year, and Jordan Gainford takes the 7 off.

Leinster National – Ten Ten 7’s
Leinster National – Fitzhenry 18’s EW 6pl
Leinster National – Scoir Mear 8’s
1505 – Belfast Banter EW
1535 – Campeador 7’sMarch 14, 2021 at 14:37 #1529484nice 1-2 there for you bob
March 14, 2021 at 14:43 #1529485Hope you had an Exacta!
March 14, 2021 at 15:25 #1529497I expect he had the trifecta Sungold
March 14, 2021 at 16:25 #1529508Thanks guys, absolutely delighted with that result. A fairly big betting race for me, so chuffed to come out ahead.
Yeah Grass, had the Forecast and Tricast, gutted a wee bit to not get on to put it up. Third time this season I’ve missed putting up a winning Forecast after The King George and The Ascot Chase, so that total should be much better.
Maybe a wee hint to myself not to put any more up.
March 16, 2021 at 11:27 #1529819Strange old build up this year, but still looking forward to it.
Completely different approach to Antepost this year, and for first time in probably ten years, don’t have a huge one that’s going to give me sleepless nights.
Worst results Antepost were Frodon, and this morning, Dalton Highway. Frodon I liked more for Ryanair, and like Dalton, neither NRNB, nor with Cash Out options, or an opportunity to lay off.
Other mistakes were Stattler, and also Galvin & Escaria Ten. Stattler I just missed the bigger prices, getting distracted by Martin Pipe, and not only did I not get the bigger price, as happy as I am with 14’s, it’s not to the amount I would like.
I’ve rambled on about Galvin since Day One, and every intention to bet him last summer at 33’s. Then missed the 25’s. Put him up for NH Chase, went to take the 20’s, and it was gone. Stuck with 14’s. I’m happy with that, but NH Chase is one of my big betting races, and I don’t have the size of bet I’d like to have on him.
Same with Escaria Ten, missing the 50’s. To be fair though, he was my biggest Antepost of the year in The Kim Muir, and NRNB saved me.
I’m hoping for a run for my money in particular from The Storyteller, Dashel Drasher, No Comment, Champagne Platinum, and Royal Pagaille. Those are bigger bets, though greening out on Royal Pagaille just made sense. I’m not as keen on him now, and as funny as it sounds, not my priority in The Gold Cup. There’s a couple of people on here know my approach with The Gold Cup this year. I’ve went with three of them since March last year, adding them to numerous lines, and two of them have made it (so far). They’re very close to sleepless night bets, but if I’m being honest, I don’t enjoy the nerves anymore.

I bet Vintage Clouds couple of days back, and was happy to get 25’s to five places, but an hour later, I could get seven places. No option but to have a small top up. His price is holding anyway, and there must be a chance his season is geared towards Ayr.Mares
Went with Great White Shark here at 14’s just before Final Decs, but not the best bet, as can get 20’s now, so topped up to four places.Boodles
I’ll take a chance on Zoffanien here. Quite liked the look of him last time.
Not a massive betting race for me, but happy to go with him at the price.NH Chase
Green Race for me. Laid off a wee bit on Galvin, and I’ll probably do same with Escaria Ten as well. It’ll give me a free go with Remastered, who I think is on the way up.All three high on the radar for next year, with Remastered looking ideal for Ladbroke Trophy, while the other pair will definitely feature in next year’s Antepost Bets more than once, assuming they perform to a decent level today.
Cracking renewal.Vintage Clouds EW 7 Places
Great White Shark 18’s EW 4 Places
Zoffanien 22’s EW 6 Places
Galvin 14’s
Escaria Ten 16’s NRNB
Remastered 8’sGood luck this week everyone.
