With A Momentofmadness out, I’ve added smaller win bets on Tarboosh and Copper Knight, and topped up Bottle. Very pleased that Madness was only a small Antepost, this race already feels like a winner lol. Bottles a fair go now though himself, and the other pair are for interest, much smaller bets, though Copper Knight should easily outrun his odds.

August 19, 2020 at 18:53 #1497888Complete washout today, and Tarboosh at 50’s win only summed it up.
It’s officially a slump now, so time to be extra careful.
Particularly poor from Darvel, and he was beat after 100 yards.
As for today, well the obvious highlight was Pyledriver, that was great to see for “smaller“ connections, and I hope he wins The St Leger, unless one of my two get fitted with a new engine before the entries of course. Though to be fair that pair would need two new engines.
The rest of the card didn’t grab me, though Cairns Island and Perotto looked worth following after the last.
August 19, 2020 at 19:09 #1497893Onto Day 2, and considering todays results, not too many jumping out. The cards at Killarney and Chester appeal more, but I’ll keep then off here, as at this moment, I’m backing “several”
I looked long and hard at On My Way, and Fools Rush In, but as I said, being careful, so I’ll throw them into some perms.
As per Big Race threads, I’ll be with Sir Busker and Chatez in The Clipper Logistics, while Eva Maria appeals with four places in The Galtres.

August 20, 2020 at 18:42 #1498131Nothing much doing today, but after Day One, mainly very smaller bets.
Bright spot was Sir Busker, getting all my stakes back on the race, which was vital, as there was more on that the race than the others put together. From a different perspective, Chatez was a good result. I had seriously considered him for The Cambridgeshire beforehand, and that was a bullet dodged.
The rest ran as their odds suggested.
August 20, 2020 at 19:03 #1498135Quiet enough day tomorrow.
I’m with A’Ali and Art Power in the big one. I bet them when in better form, so they’re relatively large bets, so I’ll probably lay off for a free race. Ideally, I’d like to see A’Ali drop a couple of points, but looks unlikely at the moment.
In the opener, I do like Zabeel Champion, but with winners thin on the ground, I can’t possibly justify betting him.
In The Gimcrack, I have to take a chance with Devilwala. Has to step up, but it was a pleading debut, and four places is key.
Desperate for a go in The Lonsdale Cup, but as much as I like Eagles By Day, I like Dashing Willoughby as well, not to mention Stratum, who looks too big. Maybe just have to sit it out.
I’m considering both Johan, and my old pal Overwrite in The Skybet Mile. I just favour Johan, but I’ll probably bet Overwrite to lay in running as well.

August 22, 2020 at 01:44 #1498357Finally a winning day.
Johan was a bit of a disappointment, but small profit from my lays on The Nunthorpe, and I cheered home Devilwala like he was a 100-1 shot. I got 18’s and 20’s, and was delighted with him.
August 22, 2020 at 02:16 #1498366All about Euchen Glen today. He’s been great to me over the last two or three years. He’d be a seriously big winner for me today, and though he’s got a hard race ahead of him, I think he’ll give me some excitement.
Elsewhere, in The City of York Stakes, I’ll be with both Brando and Escobar, regardless of them looking friendless at the moment.
I’ve bet Midnights Legacy at 10’s Antepost, and I can get 10’s now. If he goes above that, I’ll bet him EW Five Places.
Ben Macdui is too short for me today, but I’ll be cheering him on, while I’m fairly keen on Aasheq outrunning his odds in the 1440.
Elsewhere, I can’t leave my big hope, Romantic Proposal alone at The Curragh, and though I won’t have the big bet on Cardsharp that I was going to have at York, I’ll take a chance with him in The Chelmsford City Cup.

August 22, 2020 at 11:41 #1498420Pity about Euchen Glen having such a bad draw. Lets hope he can overcome it. That 100/1 tip of yours weeks back has been paying for my 3 pence ew bets for weeks but over the past two days I’ve had some complete mug punter bets and my account needs topping up! Especially as I’ve now learned how to do a lucky 15.
August 22, 2020 at 12:11 #1498429Yeah, not the best draw Moe, but hopefully give it a good shot.
Could be doing with another 100-1 shot Moe, the last fortnight has been tough going.
August 22, 2020 at 13:09 #1498442I started off really well but the past 2 days have been dire.I was on Wimpole Hall, too. Think it must have been a steamer on oddschecker. And I missed that Moore plunge horse the other day; if I’d checked oddschecker first thing, which I do sometimes, I would have seen it’s price coming in. Then I had that 20/1 winner disqualified; I went out to do some gardening knowing I’d got a 20/1 winner and a placed horse only to come back in later on to find my account had only increased by about 9 pence. Was just about to contact W Hill when Mike told me there’d been a stewards enquiry. That was a sickener !
August 22, 2020 at 19:55 #1498529Bloomin’ draw. He was best of the lower drawn horses but don’t think anything would have beat the winner. Didn’t think that Pivotal bred staying types, though.
August 22, 2020 at 21:27 #1498536Yeah no excuses there Moe, no way would he have beaten the winner, but the EW bet after Final Decs really saved my skin.
I only do about half a dozen bets like that during a season, and I was grateful for today.
August 22, 2020 at 21:36 #1498537As I just said to Moe, Euchen Glen did me proud today. As with The John Smiths Cup, it was the extra places after Final Decs that made the difference, rather than the bets at 50 odds, and something to look at.
I made a minuscule profit on him, minuscule enough to call it breaking even, but after a tough old fortnight, I was a bag of nerves before it, and I didn’t enjoy it. Still, he’s a belter of a horse, I’ve banged his drum for some time now, and long may he be overpriced.
Romantic Proposal was my other big bet of the day, and even with the non runners, I still made a profit before the off, and I was grateful afterwards, not that she was that bad. Still engaged tomorrow too.
The rest, not so good.
Escobar
Midnights Legacy
Brando
Aasheq
CardsharpAll very poor, and I was glad to get out with not so much damage done, thanks to the big two.
Think I can forget Brando next month, but I’ll take pride, sort of, in betting a horse to lose in the same race, four years in a row lol.
Love The Ebor Meeting, and it’s a loser for me more often than not, but I didn’t enjoy it too much this year, and I’m looking forward to downing tools for at least a week.
August 23, 2020 at 14:29 #1498643If my memory is correct [might not be] they discussed Brando on racing radio and said he hates York and has bled there in the past, so I wouldn’t give up on him when he races elsewhere.
August 23, 2020 at 19:03 #1498685Hope you’re right Moe, but I’m not confident.
August 28, 2020 at 13:10 #1499060Went with Onlyhuman in The Irish Cambridgeshire today.
16’s was fair, though kicking myself for not taking the 20’s earlier in the week.
Also took 12’s EW six places.August 29, 2020 at 23:35 #1499282Onlyhuman turned out to be only bet of weekend, and with today’s cards being desperate, it wasn’t difficult to sit it out.
Sunday not much better, so hopefully a weekend off can recharge the batteries.
