All good here Darren, just trying to have a calm January.
Very unlucky today with Royal Tara, a sore one.
Had to wait for The Thyestes, as I really fancied Invitational Only, but he had another entry at Thurles, which he’s taken up. Thread will be up and running over the weekend.
Betting a few tomorrow though, and I’ll stick them up later mate.
January 20, 2019 at 16:53 #1393115Bob i saw you had Wakanda am happy he won as well nice 10/1 ante post for me though gutted with silva eclipse
January 23, 2019 at 17:43 #1393354Sorry Darren, I hadn’t noticed your post. Yeah, delighted with Wakanda, been a bogey horse for me, so glad to finally get him right.
January 26, 2019 at 00:50 #1393687Been a fairly quiet January, as planned, but have to be happy, as although less bets about, I’ve had a fair bit of joy since New Years Day.
Real highlight this month was obviously Invitation Only, and it was a fair swing I had at him, certainly enough to guarantee me a winning season, with a fair bit to spare, which this far out, I’m very very happy about. Up For Review was the icing on the cake. Fourth wining season in a row, and absolutely chuffed to bits.
Looking forward to my other “long ranger”, Dingo Dollar, going close in The Skybet, but after the doubts about his participation, it’ll be a nervy few hours. More than happy to also be with Willie Boy at 12’s, and Federici ew at 33’s. The five places with the sponsors is excellent, and I’ve topped up Federici ew to 10’s.
I’m so happy with how Midnight Shadow has been running, and he’s getting bet in The Cleeve. He’s drifting, and it would be great to get 6’s, 7’s.
The 1450 at Uttoxeter is a cracker of a race, and I thought Keyboard Gangster was a crazy price at 20’s. He’s biggest bet of the day, and also added him 14’s to four places. Already had two decent wins from Aspen Colorado this season, and he’ll be considered, though he might not want to win this, as he looks tailor made for The Coral Cup or Martin Pipe. Ballyandy is to be feared, but I think Point of Principle could run well too.
Also at Uttoxeter is Midnight Jitterbug. Maybe pushing it for win purposes, but he ran well for a long way last time off of a layoff, and he’s weighted to place at a big price.
I’m An Izz Wiz also appeals at a price at Fairyhouse, he’ll have to be bet, while the opposite applies to NH Chase hope Glenloe, who’s too short today. Very close to being added for Cheltenham though.
Big ask to keep the run going, but regardless of how it goes, a very very decent days racing.
January 28, 2019 at 19:06 #1394089bob any views on staying handicap chase at Newcastle tomorrow I like Stradihana yard in great form in staying handicap chases they are
January 28, 2019 at 20:47 #1394109Darren, this is a good omen, was going to put it up tonight.
Was looking through tomorrow’s Runners, and clocked him straight away. I just assumed he’d be fav, couldn’t believe the 11’s. Had to have a chance at those odds surely.
January 29, 2019 at 12:02 #1394141Any views on big handicap hurdle at leopardstown see Wonder laish fave but not for me
January 29, 2019 at 21:15 #1394195Couldn’t touch this race Antepost Darren, but I do like Blazer and Jezki at prices, but more than happy to sit it out.
February 1, 2019 at 17:37 #1394631bob my bets up in thread for leopardstown weekend any views
and good luck and hope you warm it murder in London i hate the snow and rain to am like a horse i need fast and dry ground
February 1, 2019 at 21:41 #1394679It’s bloody freezing up here in Motherwell as well Darren. No happy, was supposed to be going to Musselburgh on Sunday.
Not going mad at Leapordstown tomorrow, only betting two at the moment, though I do like your shout for Ivanovitch, I could see him running well.
I haven’t bet these yet, but it’ll be roughly….
Jezki 33’s EW 7 Places
Kylecrue 33’s EW 4 PlacesGreat racing though, and I’ll enjoy the other races without a punt.
Another good card on Sunday as well, and I’ve already bet these Antepost….
Irish Gold Cup
Edwulf 66’s EW
Noble Endeavour 66’s EWAbbey International
Cubomania 14’s Win
Vieux Morvan 12’s WinBloody strong meeting, and good luck with yours
February 2, 2019 at 15:02 #1394859So close with good old Jezki…a nice EW return at that price though.
February 2, 2019 at 15:04 #1394860Oh so close Grass, but chuffed to bits with that, day paid for at that price lol
February 3, 2019 at 12:37 #1394974After a very flat day last Saturday, much more like it yesterday.
Biggest bet of the day was Jezki, and it was great to see him roll back the years, smashing performance, and a good lift for me at 33’s, while Coole Cody at 50’s, and Folsom Blue at 9’s made a huge difference too. I also had Ordinary World ew at 50’s, though obviously had a hefty R4, and also not mentioned on here, Gino Trail at 12’s. No winners, but plenty paying there way, inlcuding Give Me A Copper who I took 16’s EW after the drift, and was a good day.
Also not mentioned on here was Chiefofchiefs, I had a few quid on him, and I though he was nailed on for a place, having bet him 33’s EW in the week. He wasn’t. He was disappointing. Kylecrue, although well beaten, did everything I expected, always touch and go with him, but I had covered Three Stars in that race, and he was awful.
Smashing days racing today again.
No bet in the juvenile, but hoping that Sir Erec can run a big race for my Triumph bet, though Tiger Tap Tap looks a beast. I had the same thoughts on Delta Work, wanted to see him run well for my RSA bet, but with him out, I’ll throw La Bague Au Roi into the perms with Sir Erec.
My fancy in the opener is nonner, so struggling a bit, but I might have a fun bet shortly on Smiling Eliza each way, but she’s hard to recommend, and I’ll probably just throw her in the perms.
I have bet these though…….
Triplicate 16’s
Oscar Knight 16’s
The Storyteller 25’s
Vieux Morvan 12’s
Cubomania 14’s
Livelovelaugh 14’sThese will be covered as well to max places, and I haven’t ruled out Any Second Now either.
February 9, 2019 at 22:06 #1397057First time in a very long time I’ve not had a bet on a Saturday, not a penny, though considering how Day 2 went at Leapordstown, that’s maybe not a bad thing lol.
Not that there was anything wrong with Naas, just couldn’t find a bet.
There’s a few opportunities at Punchestown though.
The Grand National trial would have been one of the races of the weekend, even without the flu problem, but it looks even better now.
I’m with Youcantcallherthat 18’s, and 20’s EW 6 Places, as per big race thread, and still planning to save on General Principle.
The opener over the Banks Course is a cracker. Josies Orders and Hurricane Darwin are interesting, but I reckon Ballycasey will win this, and prove to be too big at 14’s for Cheltenham. My bet though will be Enniskillen, who’s now 14. I’ve made loads on this Boy the last few years laying in running, and though he’s in proper veteran stage, I’m hoping the fact that he’ll be 100’s+ on the exchanges, I should hopefully get a chance for profit.
In the 1420, I can’t believe Tintangle is 9’s. She’s been highly tried so far, hasn’t disgraced herself, and holds nice entries. I think she’ll progress next couple of seasons.
The 1450 is just too tough, and undecided about a small go on the unfancied Unexpected Depth around 20’s. Showed enough promise last time to at least be interested.
The 1520 is a cracker, and I’m with Treaceysenniscorthy 12’s ew, and Waaheb 25’s ew, both five places.
I won’t be betting him, but I’m very hopeful for Battle of Midway, and hes already on my watch list, and I’m looking forward to him in The Bumper
February 15, 2019 at 23:54 #1397564Happy with Achille today, and still not giving up on Kansas, that was better today. Second win of the season I’ve had from Achille, and like last time managed to get 6’s. Less happy that he was only a saver, as the main bet was Kansas City Chief, but I’ll take it, as it’ll pay for most of tomorrows betting, if not all.
Outstanding racing tomorrow, and I’ll have to be very careful, as this is one of those days where too many fancies can cause confusion.
Ascot
Ok, it’s The Betfair Hurdle in name only really, but the two I put up first for it, Lisp, and Didtheyleaveyououtoo, are both still in there. Gutted about the 25’s for Lisp which was voided, but absolutely no complaints with that, as it’s totally the right call from the books. I’d be moaning if it went against me. Took 10’s the pair of them, and hopeful. I’d particularly like Didtheyleaveyoutoo to do well, as I put him up as a Supreme horse over a year ago, and it would be nice if he did do well, as he’d surely be heading to the Festival Opener. The Ascot Chase is a cracker, and I’m with Fox Norton at 7’s. Small bet really, as I want Waiting Patiently to win, but I’ll enjoy this race without too much stress. Aso looks big at 16’s as well.
The Swinley Chase is a tidy wee contest, and I’m with Black Corton 9-2, and Regal Encore at 10’s, who’ll be topped up if he goes bigger. Coneygree should go well too, and I just love old Smooth Stepper, who looks a shade overpriced.
In the 1300 I really like the look of Sussex Ranger, but haven’t decided whether to bet him or not, as 8’s is just short of what I wanted, while Now McGinty looks interesting in The Reynoldstown. He’s definitely too short though.
Small but select field in The Denman Chase, and I’ll be cheering on Terrefort, who was my main hope for The Gold Cup this year, before that unfortunate reappearance at Sandown. Fingers crossed with him. He’ll make the perms tomorrow, but far too short too justify betting him on his own.
Haydock
As per the big race threads, really hopeful of big runs from Shades of Midnight 14’s EW, and Vieux Lion Rouge 20’s Win and EW, and think they should give me a run, while Ballyoptic has been covered at 14’s in the big one.I’ll sit out The Pertemps qualifier, but my eyes will be everywhere, and particularly interested in Sykes, and Blaklion.
In the 1645, I’ll be disappointed if Kateson doesn’t land this, massive fan of the horse, who’s got bags of potential, but don’t rule out Geordie B, who I think I’ll be giving a few good words in future seasons.
Gowran Park
Decent card here too.In The Red Mills Hurdle, I like the look of Farclas, but can’t really justify betting him, so I won’t. I think they’ll have some fun with him in the coming seasons, while in The Red Mills Chase, no surprise here…..Edwulf. I just love this horse, and though this is way short of his optimum, it’s only a year ago he was winning The Irish Gold Cup. He didn’t get the credit that day, as Kilultagh Vic fell at the last, but I think it’s safe to to say that Edwulf would have collared him anyway. K Vic should have a better chance tomorrow, perfect trip for him, and he really impressed me here last time. He should put it up to Monalee as well, but at 16’s, I had to have a fair old swing at Edwulf, some price that, even over this trip, and Joseph O’Brien in red hot form.
He also has a very interesting one in West Coast Time in the 1430, and I’ll definitely chance him after a layoff at 14’s, five places. Dawn Raider has been getting a good few whispers the last month, and he looks a real danger, and a worthy favourite. Best Behaviour is also catching my eye at 16’s. I could make a case for The Conditional in the 1540, and if he holds at 20’s, I’ll risk him too.
The card at Wincanton isn’t great, and it’s an horrendous looking renewal of The Kingwell. Ballykan is interesting in the Handicap Chase, as is Myplaceatmidnight later on the card though.
Too many to justify betting them all, so I’ll have to be very careful. I want Achille to pay for tomorrow (not counting Anteposts), so a fair bit of juggling involved.
February 16, 2019 at 11:18 #1397642Definitely keeping an eye on West Coast Time today. Was all over him for the Champion Bumper a couple of seasons ago and he’s better than 119 on his initial hurdles starts.
February 16, 2019 at 13:35 #1397692Yeah Krypton, big question over the layoff, but clearly miles better than his mark. Market suggests that today is not the day, but even with the drift, and also Dawn Raider looking solid, I just have to chance him.
