Definitely having a play today, as yet again the Sunday racing looks decent. Haven’t been betting much on that many Saturdays recently, but had a fair go on Singeur in the consolation race ew at 25’s, and he didn’t let me down. On the face of it he shouldn’t have had a chance, but despite his wretched record at 6f, I know him better than any other flat horse at the moment, and he’s never been better. I really did think he would win. Short price for me, but also stuck with Defoe at Newbury, and got a small ew return from Vibrant Chords. The only disappointments were Growl, and I also had a few quid on Belgian Bill, but I was kinda pleased he didn’t perform, as I have a prize in mind for him, and if he goes down another couple of pounds, that would be smashing.

As mentioned, good racing today, and the 16’s on Theatre Wine at Tramore looks more than generous, and I’ll be having a go. Her stablemate Cecil Corbett also looks overpriced at 8’s, and I’ll be with him as well in the next.

The 1510 at Southwell is a very nice race for this time of year, and I’m hoping the 2lb drop for Midnight Shot can make the difference. He’s been a revelation over the larger obstacles, and although he eventually finished well back, he ran well for a long way in The Summer Plate, and he’s surely worth a risk here at around 10’s.

Been having some joy recently with shorter prices than I’d normally go for, and I might just chance Rostropovich at 7-2 at The Curragh, while True Blue Moon, who let me down at Royal Ascot look worth another go, especially over this trip, and he’s a fair old price.

I’ll update my Ante-Post bets before The Ebor Meeting, but I’m seriously considering The Wagon Wheel for The Ayr Gold Cup, and he’ll need a big run tomorrow at Pontefract to get in. He’s 25’s for Ayr, but with 4 places available tomorrow at 12’s, that looks a very tempting bet.

Probably be a few perms, and 2 or 3 singles as well.

Oh the stress of it; Corals gave me a £5 free bet. They’ve thrown a few pennies my way in the past but never that much. The only time I ever put that much on a horse was one that was tipped by the owner on another forum for the Scottish National and it PU’d. I was out walking today so couldn’t listen to the racing and had put a win bet on Skeltons Azzuri in the first at Southwell, only to then realise it was up against a Ollie Murphy/R Johnson second favourite [thought it better to back an odds on shot and get the winnings rather than risk something with a bigger price, given that I wouldn’t get the stake money back].So am now £3:60 better off which I can use to cover my York bets.I was a wreck when Mike put the telly on and looked up the racing results on the red button, as I was just going to look at my account and see if it had stayed the same; he then said ‘do you want the good news’. Beats me how people can put hundreds on horses and not get heart failure! Happy days!!

lol Moe, never a dull moment.

Make sure you dig me out a few nice priced ones at York. Really looking forward to it, and got the first 2 days off, so heading to the caravan with a few beers, can’t wait. Had a look at the first race on day 1, and desperate for an Ante-Post play, but the race is giving me headaches lol.

Very very happy with Theatre Wine today, and though given a soft lead, I like the way she did it, and the price was a real bonus. Surely has another win in her, and I will be with her again this season for sure.

She really took care of business for me today, as the other 3 were very poor. Midnight Shot was always getting niggled, and he obviously wants another couple of pounds dropped from him, while less said about The Wagon Wheel the better. Yes, it was a poor draw, but that was no excuse, and it was a very disappointing run. I didn’t see Cecil Corbetts race, but from the RP Comments, I don’t think I missed too much. Rostropovich won, but I didn’t back him, as with the N/R, I just couldn’t bet him at the price.

No complaints though, and that smashing return from Theatre Wine ensured a very healthy day.

Been looking forward to this meeting, and hopefully I can dig out a winner or two.

1355. (from big race thread) Always been a graveyard meeting for me, and it had always been a losing meeting for me until last year, when loads went right, and I had a few nice returns, not least from Thesme, who landed me each way money at 100’s in The Nunthorpe. That was a serious run from her, and she showed some serious speed, and I can’t possibly abandon her here. The toughest race of the meeting for me, as there are so many who catch the eye…..it is an absolute cracker. Thesme hasn’t been in the greatest of form since, but I suspect she’s been kept for this meeting, and with Dettori an interesting jockey booking, around 12’s with 5 places looks serious value to me.

She’ll be the selection along with A Momentofmadness. Already one of my favourite flat horses, and he’s paid his way for me a few times, and I really do think do think, that despite the concern that he’s looking a wee bit like a “bridesmaid” horse, given time, he’ll be trying his luck outside of handicap company, and he certainly has time on his side. 11’s, again with the 5 places, will do for me.

The 1615 is my kind of action, and I always like this race. Oceane did me proud last year, and at around 16’s, I’d still give him a chance of making the 5. He’s never really came to close to that since, and the handicapper seems to be very wary of him, but this might just be the plan for him, and I can’t abandon him here. I also like recent Ascot winner Euchen Glen, and I reckon he’s still unexposed. He’ll be added at around 10’s.

I would love one winner today, and even more, I’d love a second winning Ebor Meeting in a row.

You cant miss out Alan King horses in these races, can you? Haven’t backed Euchen Glen but would love the Goldie stable to win; might lift the gloom there a bit. Have also backed Penglai Pavilion and the Johnson complete outsider.

Euchen Glen ran a screamer moe, one for your notebook for The Cesarewitch :good:

Not too bad today, and 3 of my 4 main bets came good…..though a winner would be nice.

The main race of the day for me was the opener, and A Momentofmadness & Thesme both made the frame. Chuffed with the pair of them, and I’ll continually keep them on side. It’s debatable as to whether or not Euchen Glen would have won, but with a smoother passage he’d certainly have been closer, and I bet him immediately for The Cesarewitch off the back of it. Finally, just out of the frame was Milton Road, and I actually topped up on him to win at 66’s. He ran very nicely, not far away in 8th, and I think he could be one to follow in handicaps over the coming years, he loos a nice type.

Day 2 is probably the weakest of the meeting.

Nothing really catches my eye in the opener, but I’ll take a chance on Tangled, and at around 12’s ew with 4 places, he’ll do for me. The Lowther looks a desperate affair, and having liked the look of So Hi Society before, she’s an easy choice for me. I’d love for her to go above 33’s. The Yorkshire Oaks looks Enables to lose (obviously), but in a very very tame renewal, I’ll be with Coronet ew at around 25’s. That seems fair.

Race of the day looks like being The Clipper Logistics Handicap, and I think El Hayem looks a big price at around 10’s. I bet Gm Hopkins when El Hayem beat him last time, and that was a strong run from GM. Think it took a good one to hold him off that day, and hit with only a 4lb rise, I’d be surprised if that stops him featuring. I’m hoping that the 6 places makes this a bet to nothing. Mythical Madness looks huge at 33’s, and I’ve went for him 33’s win, and 25’s ew. He really caught my eye last time, and I think his price is all wrong. I’ve bet Bravery for The Cambridgeshire, as he looked great last time, and is already below the mark that seen him land this years Lincoln. I’m hoping that Newmarket is the plan, but I’ve bet him here to cover my Ante-Post stake, should things go well today. No surprise if things do go well, and he looks a big threat around 20’s. Oh This Is Us, and Ronald R could also be bet easily as well. Very nice race this one, and hopefully I can get some joy from it.

In the 1615, I’d expect Euro Nightmare to just come up short here, but just looking for a run for my money at a price, and the 18’s for him is the right kind of price.

In the last, I can’t desert Lavetta, who I’ve been waiting on. This is a tougher race than I expected her to re-appear in, but at 12’s, the ew 5 places is fab. I’ll have a saver in this race, and undecided between Lincoln Rocks, and Breakable.

Oh I know Botchy, and though I was planning to be careful, and only bet at York, in for a penny, in for a pound, and with it being a nice card at Killarney, I’ll have a try. Ahead after yesterday, so might have a bit of fun.

Western Boy was very disappointing at Galway, but at the price he’s at just now, I think he’s worth another try. That entry tomorrow surely won’t be taken up, and I’m just wondering if he’s due a crack at The Irish Cesarewitch.

It’s a cracking little race, and I like the look of 3 other outsiders, in Bayan, Jan Van Eyck, and Theo’s Well. I’ll also bet one of them.

I also like Mantracker, Sandymount Duke, and despite saying I’d avoid the jumpers today, I also like Oathkeeper, and Flavianna.

Very very happy with that today, and a couple of winners made a big difference.

Tangled was very impressive in the opener, and I was happy to be ahead of a late gamble on him, and I was chuffed to steal the 12’s.

I really thought for a minute that So Hi Society was going to make the frame in the next, but it wasn’t to be, but really happy with her. She still ran a bit green, but I will definitely be betting her in the future.

Main race of the day for me was the Clipper Logistics, and El Hayem saved the day for me, getting 5th, and though I only escaped a few quid ahead on the race, I was as chuffed with Bravery as anything else. I didn’t want him to win here, bearing in mind my Cambridgeshire bet, and he ran well for a long way, and that was the perfect prep.

Things got even better in The Yorkshire Oaks, and I still can’t believe I got 25’s for Coronet. Not my kind of race at all, so that made it even sweeter.

Euro Nightmare probably ran better than I expected, and for a brief moment thought he would mount a challenge. No complaints though, and another I will be onside with again.

Lincoln Rocks at 10’s in the last was another welcome winner, and I also had a small each way on Breakable at the 14’s. The Exacta was the icing on the cake, and although not for much money, it was good to get one on the board.

As I mentioned on Wednesday, this meeting has been a tough gig for me in the past, so today was very pleasing. Chuffed to bits with 2 winning days in a row, and I will be careful on Day 3, as I should be able to escape with a profit by close of play at the meeting now.

Cracking card on Day 3, miles better than Thursday, but, as mentioned above, bets will be modest, and I’ll only increase stakes if I’m playing up any winnings (touch wood)

In the first, I’ll take a chance on Fidaawy at the 14’s, and hoping he has a change of luck from last run. Looked dangerous that day, and I think he looks overpriced here.

In The Lonsdale Cup, I’ll go for a couple of them. I really liked Prince of Arran in The Ascot Gold Cup, and I fancied him more than I let on at Goodwood, but he was very poor, and didn’t really look good enough. Common sense would dictate that I should leave him alone here, and would be madness to give him another go, but I’ve had a few quid ew at the 28’s, and he’ll go alongside a win bet on Sheikzhayed Road.

In the 1500, Mubtasim is the main fancy at 14’s, and I’ll take advantage of the 14’s, and I’ll split him with Aeolus at around 33’s.

It’ll be tough to beat the big 2 in The Nunthorpe, but I bet Washington DC ew at 25’s Ante-Post, and although that price has held, I’m still fairly confident he can make the frame.

I’m torn between Doswell win at 4’s in the next, with Nicklaus ew 4 places at 9’s. I’m not betting 2 in this, and I’m swaying towards Nicklaus at the moment.

Finally in the last, I’m going out on a limb, and going with Montataire at a big price. If over his extended break, he looks massively overpriced. Risky, but he’s better than a few of these, and he;’s 33’s at the moment.

Cheers Grass, just about to do my update and picks for tomorrow, but it’ll definitely be Master Of The World, and very possibly Forest Ranger.
