The Peterborough, on December 11th. Though AFAIK it’s only Paul Nicholls who has mooted such an idea, as that would scupper any plans for Tidal Bay to take in the Tingle Creek 5 days earlier.
November 4, 2008 at 15:14 #187913I’d be surprised if they met then. Tidal Bay’s stated objective is the Tingle Creek, and Noland looks sure to go for the Peterborough.
The only reason Howard Johnson would have for not running in the Tingle Creek is to avoid Master Minded, and given he’s been so ebullient about the horse, this seems unlikely (imo).
November 4, 2008 at 17:14 #187924It looks like he’ll be up against My way de solzen though judging by teh reports.
November 4, 2008 at 17:53 #187931Given that Noland ran third to Tidal Bay in the Arkle, and is supposed to have improved since, it’s not that surprising that connections might take Tidal Bay on again.
Not saying that he would win, as Tidal Bay has probably improved too, but Noland has nothing to be afraid of, other than running an honourable second.
If people weren’t prepared to run horses in races they might lose, we wouldn’t have a sport. Denman, for example, would walk over in the 2009 Gold Cup…
PS – which race is the supposed TB/Noland clash due to occur?
I agree with you but when you have had a horse with troubles it is sometimes better to go steady steady and give them the chance to get used to winning. It can pay didvidends in the long run.
PS I think you mean a Kauto Star walk over

I love Denman to bits he’s better than I ever thought he was but I am still 100% in the Kauto Star camp and regard him as the best in training second to none.
November 4, 2008 at 19:05 #187949Off topic slightly, but I too favour Kauto over Denman (and have been lucky enough to meet both on several occasions).
I think Kauto at his best will give Denman a race in the GC, provided the ground is decent. I do wish Harry Findlay would be more sporting and be prepared to take on Kauto on his terms (i.e. 3m, sharper track). Not this year I know owing to Denman’s heart problem, but it was never on the agenda anyway, and should have been imo.

I think Nicholls would prefer to keep them apart as well. I know I would. Both are money making machines as well as horse racing machines.
November 4, 2008 at 23:54 #188008i will find out for def what nobby is runnin in next, as the papers dont tell the truth, by the way fof the kauto denman is on there own thread not this one.. also noland does NOT have problems as u put it…
November 5, 2008 at 02:05 #188042Becks – someone commented on a horse from the same stable as Noland. Don’t see how it could be considered irrelevant to the fhread.
As for the assertion that Noland has problems – he was injured for a season and Nicholls now wants to take on a horse who’s already beaten him convincingly.
FWIW I hope he goes back to Ireland for the John Durkan Chase (i think that’s it) over 2m 4f in December.
November 5, 2008 at 02:15 #188044no sorry irish stamp it was aimed purely to FOF as whenever our horses are mentioned or in a thread he always has to put his 2pence worthin, or generally slate them……….and quite honestly im rather bored of him lol, but then how else can u tell someone who supposedly knows everythink there is to know and do to but out???? as that is what he appears to do everytime some1 dare have an opinion of there own???
November 5, 2008 at 02:23 #188046I threw my encylcopedia’s away Becks – got married and she knew everything

Edit: For those who know me I didn’t really get married – don’t want to scare anyone
November 5, 2008 at 02:39 #188053ha ha but it waent aimed at your or anyone else just fist of furey gets on my wick lol x
November 5, 2008 at 03:28 #188060I’m sorry but can’t for the life of me find the post where I said Noland has troubles.
Other than that I have nothing to say as you said it all and made a wonderful job of making a complete idiot of yourself.
November 5, 2008 at 04:52 #188072Nicholls was quoted after the Exeter race that Natal will most likely go to Punchestown for the John Durkan Memorial next so I would assume it would be unlikely to be Noland’s next port of call. The Peterborough would seem to be the most logical next race in my opinion.

Good luck next month.
November 6, 2008 at 06:16 #188268Thanks beckster. Good job he doesn’t mind traveling! It’s a shame, in a way, so many of the horses are going to be running in Ireland this season, I’ll not have the chance to see them. But since they seem to do particularly well over there, I suppose I shouldn’t moan.At least we’ll get the chance to see them at the Festival.
