Henderson latest on Altior
“There’s lots of conjecture about whether he’ll run in the Champion Chase or the Ryanair, but unless something categorically comes up and says this horse wants two and a half (miles), I’m expecting to run him in the Champion Chase,” he told Sky Sports Racing.
“Nico (de Boinville) is very keen to go two and a half, but I do think – and maybe I’m in dreamland – that there is something about him just at the moment that is different to how he was before Christmas.
“He’s gone back to doing all his work with his head on the floor. He always used to do that and it was noticeable earlier in the year that he was carrying it much higher, like a normal horse.
“Now he’s gone back to tanking along with his head down and I’m very pleased to see him like that.
“He’ll always go through that spot in a race where you think ‘are you going all right’, but he soon answers the question – and I don’t think he’s lost that.”

I have been sitting on a park bench for an hour in a little park/enclave at the back of the Ivy (Kensington high street). I am trying out my thermals and its difficult to type this as my hands have not been pocketed. I just love the cold. It’s a crisp tenner to. anyone who approaches me in the next 10 minutes. I am wearing two jackets and two pairs of trousers and a black beanie. Only two others sitting here. Be quick and an easier earner and far more certain than any Nick Henderson charge. Nothing wrong with lambswool though !

Henderson has had a lively but chequered history. The big question the dimunitive Belgian detective must ask himself is not the quality or depth of his lambswool but rather, can a leopard change the spots with the refinement of character brought on by the passing of time ?

He has been doing this constantly for about 5 years now, the bloke is bent as a banana.
There is something very annoying about Henderson’s towering sense of entitlement. Why should he be allowed to give horses racecourse gallops? I wonder what the reaction of Newbury would be if a “small trainer” rang up and said “Look, I can’t be bothered running this horse in any of your races but can I use your racecourse as a training gallop? Thank you very much”.
Racecourse gallops should be banned.
Agreed, Cork. He should just do it the old-fashioned way- enter the horse in a Pertemps qualifier (or some other random handicap hurdle) and hack around at the back. Schooling in public is never clamped down upon by the authorities.
I remember one particular occasion when Henderson gave a few horses a racecourse gallop at Kempton and the jockeys wore the colours. In effect, Kempton allowed him to run a private race on their racecourse. They should have told him to **** off and if he wanted to use the racecourse to actually enter the horses in a race. Like everyone else does.
And then people wonder why the NH season is broken.
