TAPKThat would be awesome.
I"m not cheap!
July 27, 2010 at 16:23 #309139They should at least have someone with an interest in racing [eg John Parrot [sp] on the BBC]. I’d normally give someone a bit of time before being critical, but when he gleefully said ‘we’ve had everything today including injuries’ I was incensed. Hurrah; a horse has broken down badly and lost it’s life. Unforgivable imo.
Scandalous really. I wonder if anyone at Channel 4 has cottoned on??
I wont hold my breath!!!

Can we, just for once, have a thread that doesn’t devolve in to sniping between two or more members?
Let’s keep to the original topic, shall we?

No problem AJ!
I was under the impression Matts appearance was just a one off today, more of a Cameo role, what with the "Dallagio" connection with the maiden that "Big issue" should have won!
Another performance like todays will see Matthew selling it!
July 27, 2010 at 18:27 #309169Of all the people CH4 could have used, they pick this guy. If he was chocolate, he would eat himself! He’s got nothing to offer, it’s an awful decision. How can exec’s watch his dismal performances on A Question Of Sport, and think "hey, this guy is just what CH4 racing needs"? I’ve never liked A Question Of Sport, always been tedious, but the few times I’ve been unable to avoid it over the last few years, it’s clear he’s actually made it worse, which I never thought possible. (apologies to fans of this show, I’m sure I’ll be in the minority).
I just can’t get my head round it, it makes no sense. The only thing I can think of is an Agent/Management tie in with CH4 bosses.
The most worrying thing is, I’ve heard he’s going to be a regular feature.
Tried hard not to post a negative comment, especially after the "TRF" thread, but I had to let off some steam on this one!
July 27, 2010 at 18:51 #309172Before posting on this subject I was going to wait for Pinza to confirm the subject of this thread is acceptable to TRF and if so perhaps advise guidelines which individual posts may follow – but as he hasn’t:
This slap head is a complete c-, the comment regarding injuries was unbelievable, and I hope C4 f- him off sharpish.
Ardross, Jeremy Kyle would be a good choice. Currently he has horses in training with Nick Gifford and sponsored a few races at Sandown earlier in the year. I know he is a nightmare on that tv programme but on the radio he is quite a good laugh and he does know his gee-gees.

Wow Mr Wilson that would be an awesome line-up, so much better than the boring drivel on at the moment.
My fears about Dawson being a disaster look to have come true. Like other people on here I’m not going to watch Channel 4 anymore while this clown is on, the people in charge must be on another planet not to realise how bad he is. I’d much rather see someone like Helen Chamberlain from Soccer AM who knows and enjoys racing.
July 27, 2010 at 19:51 #309188They should have put Tuffers on instead, at least when he talks bo*****s I can put up with it!!

LMAO. Judgement has been passed. It was fairly obvious that someone from channel four reads this forum. Numerous comments during yesterday’s broadcast regarding topics of interest/discussion on this forum of late.
July 28, 2010 at 14:02 #309340Waste of time, brought nothing to the programme.
Having said that, he did make a pertinent point about warming-up, or the lack of it, before they race.
July 28, 2010 at 14:53 #309365He’s calling Canford Cliffs, Canford Hills now.
July 28, 2010 at 15:23 #309379Canford Hills!!!
Ridiculous!!!
The guy is a tool!!!
Stick to dancing Matt its obviously your forte!!!

What was that Vesuvian? I missed Matt’s comment can you elaborate?
Horses from good stables have more than sufficient pre race warm up for mine. I used to walk horses for up to two hours pre race. Horses then have pre race canter to the start. How warm does he want them?

He didn’t seem to think that horses had enough time to warm up sufficiently (given their size) with strolls in the pre-parade and parade rings and a canter to the start.
Channel 4 may as well have given a microphone to a ten-year-old child – they’d have asked just as many inane questions (it doesn’t appear that Dawson knows anything at all about the sport) but they might have proved vaguely entertaining in the process.

I think its quite a smart move by Channel Four.
The fact remains that no matter who the new presenter was this week that they would still retain their existing viewers as a whole…
However what about trying to attract new viewers??? Would an ex jockey or trainer attract new viwers……………..doutbfull.
In the schedule Channel four racing is taking the place of Come Dine with Me this week… any Come Dine With Me regulars tuning in this week, would they stayed tuned in for another ex jockey….. once again doubtfull. Would they stay tuned in for Matt Dawson (who has his own food programme on UK Food)… well perhaps they just might…
Its a move designed to attract new viewers to their show and it just might work. Definitely a better approach than another ex jockey…

Great idea – at the same time losing all their regular viewers such as myself who are not prepared to watch fools like Dawson.
