Going to run in a 6f maiden at Wolves on Friday.
July 21, 2008 at 11:48 #174007Still difficult to get into races? Will keep eye out for her Paul, good luck!!
July 21, 2008 at 12:19 #174012Luckily as she has only had two runs at the mo it is unlikely she’d get ballot marks,we shall have to worry about that after her next run if she does enough to make it worth persevering.
We just felt that even with the weight allowance taking on the likes of Harry Up would be asking a lot of her at this stage and having put her in at a low claim we didn’t want to risk losing her for peanuts if she ran a good race.
There is the obvious stamina doubt on Friday but if she shows enough pace to suggest it is worth having a go over 5f then we will do that once a suitable race arises,if not we will probably reluctantly call it a day with her.July 23, 2008 at 12:13 #174380Declared to run with I believe Royston Ffrench on board as Paddy rides for Ian McIness at York.
Be a mad rush for me as our works syndicate horse runs at Chepstow and the plan is to do the double header.July 25, 2008 at 08:45 #174677Best of luck today, GD. You’ve had rotten luck again with the draw though. The good news is that the opposition looks very moderate indeed.
July 25, 2008 at 11:43 #174727Good luck today with Wendy !
I really hope she gives you something to cheer about, but whatever the result, the most important thing is that she comes back safe and sound.
July 25, 2008 at 16:27 #174799Oh Dear
July 25, 2008 at 23:48 #174844I’m guessing this is the end of the racing road for WC, but it would be interesting to know how she goes on from here.
July 26, 2008 at 00:30 #174848Talk about the highs & lows.
Absolutely gutted about Wendy, clearly there is no point in persevering as unfortunately she just doesn’t have the pace to be competitive at any level so hopefully we can find a good home for her and then look at finding a replacement.
Still my dash to Chepstow was worthwhile as Stans Cool Cat broke her maiden.
It’s not quite the same feeling as with the TRF syndicate though which is where my heart is as it is where my involvement started and winning with more modestly bred types (like Taj) was a great feeling, partially because I guess she was the first winner I was directly involved in.
That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy tonight, seeing the faces on the other lads involved is what it is all about, they were buzzing!Anyways will post something once we know a bit more re Wendy’s future and any future horse for the syndicate.
Will also put up some piccies from Wolves in due course.
July 26, 2008 at 06:33 #174853Surely you can’t really finish with her, going on such a bad draw and a terrible ride?
July 26, 2008 at 09:24 #174863I would stop too, Paul! As you said she simply is not competive and you are not beaten that far in this class and its only due to bad draw, bad ride and/or bad going etc. This are excuses if you are beaten into 5th, 3 length! As you know I know the feeling very well, but a bad horse is as expensive as a good one when in training, and we would certainly do the same thing!
July 28, 2008 at 19:55 #175143What a shame. That’s racing for you.
July 28, 2008 at 21:31 #175157A few piccies from Friday:-

Royston Ffrench

Going down to the start

And coming back alongside stable companion Be Superior

The closing stages
July 29, 2008 at 00:16 #175182Number 13 – not a great omen!!!
Thanks for posting the photos – she’s a lovely looking animal, and I do like the way she’s got her head down fighting against her stablemate. Such a pity when things turn out like this – we’ve just had to retire Falco, the horse we have with Christian, due to blood on his lungs, and the horse I have with Alex Hales hasn’t even seen a racecourse yet!
It would be great to hear about Wendys exploits if she does see a racecourse again, but that would appear unlikely at the moment from what you’re saying. Anyway, whatever happens, I’m sure you guys will make the right decision!

July 29, 2008 at 10:02 #175202Thanks so much for sharing those photos with us – all great shots !
I know that Wendy is obviously not the fastest animal on four legs, but I think she is beautiful !!!
August 2, 2008 at 14:00 #175813Any more news on Wendy’s future yet GD ?
August 2, 2008 at 15:52 #175825As far as I am aware she will go back to her breeder for the time being.
We are on the verge of sorting out a part lease on a replacement (or two) from the same breeders.
Hopefully that will be sorted ASAP. - AuthorPosts
