Not declared I’m afraid but Warwick a week Thursday is the next planned target for her debut.
June 13, 2008 at 14:52 #168231Two entries at Warwick and her half sister Groundhog Day has an entry alongside her also.
June 13, 2008 at 16:09 #168239I’ve never been on thid post but i see Wendy Craig is running on the 19th. Good Luck!!!
June 13, 2008 at 19:30 #168272Good news GD let’s hope she gets in this time
June 17, 2008 at 10:55 #168700Declared to run with Patrick Mathers on board in a field of 14.
I see AP’s horse Salute is also due to run in the staying handicap on the card.
June 17, 2008 at 12:55 #168736That’s great – best of luck with her
June 17, 2008 at 19:16 #168874Fingers crossed for this time!

The very best of luck GD. Paddy Mathers is a good lad. The only problem with him is that he’s sometimes braver than his mount when it comes to going for a gap.
Edit: Rotten luck with the draw. Are you going to instruct the jockey to bounce her out or tuck in?
June 19, 2008 at 16:31 #169313came 10th of 10 – lost by about 37 lengths
June 19, 2008 at 19:08 #169336Oh dear
June 19, 2008 at 19:32 #169345I didn’t see the race as I was at work, but a friend of mine watched it, and said that she was quite slowly away, and never recovered. He actually thought she might have hit the stalls as the race started.
Let’s hope she’s OK.

June 19, 2008 at 22:16 #169370The slow break from the stalls wasn’t a great surprise.
I don’t think she handled the track and the ground was very quick which probably didn’t suit either.
She was very green so hopefully she’ll improve for the experience, clearly she needs to.
We do believe there is ability there,it’s just a question of coaxing it out of her on the racecourse.
June 20, 2008 at 08:38 #169397Is the form of the trainer not a worry – 6 of his recent 9 runners have finished stone last?

GD – in view of her poor draw breaking slowly was probably the best thing that could have happened. As for finishing last, I wouldn’t be concerned about that provided she has learnt something from the race. What trip were you expecting her to be suited by long term?
June 20, 2008 at 09:50 #169410I have sort of wondered about that LGR,although Niteowl Lad has been running creditably.
Alabama Spirit was mullered coming out the stalls on Monday and Haroldini would have probably needed the run at Thirsk.
At the end of the day I guess John would be better known these days for his exploits on the AWT with the likes of Haroldini,Soba Jones and others.
Doesn’t have a huge amount of turf winners and she has been to Southwell to gallop a few times but obviously at this time of year there are many opportunities there. It’s funny becauses she is bred to be a sprinter.
Her half sister Groundhog Day ran in the opener and is a sprinter. The 6f was probably too far for her yesterday but there are few opportunities at the mo in the older maiden division over 5f hence why she ran over 6 yesterday.
Worry for her is if she was to run disappointingly in her third qualifying run she could end up with a low mark which would make life difficult. As for Wendy, well I suppose you get your hopes up before hand, hope the horse shows ability and then can build on that.
It’s a bit deflating when you finished tailed off last but as we know horses benefit greatly for that initial experience and hopefully she’ll be one of them. The jockey did say she would be capable of winning a race in due course so hopefully he’ll be proven correctly.
She’ll probably be dropped in grade next time out and definitely be
upped in trip to a 1m/1m 1f.
Be looking for easier ground also, although not easy to find at this time of year.June 20, 2008 at 19:12 #169514It’s a tough game isn’t it? Let’s hope he finds a niche for her soon.
June 21, 2008 at 08:11 #169578GD – I’d be slightly concerned that if you don’t think she stayed yesterday that stepping her up to 1m is the best plan.
If you think she’s a sprinter (and her breeding strongly suggests that she is) then stick to sprint trips. If you think she needs give in the ground or the AW then fair enough but as you have already realised, if you mess about with the race conditions too much for her first three runs without letting her put in one decent performance you will be left on a very low handicap mark and will then struggle to find races with her
