    A re-think after this weekend and today’s races………..

BOSTON BOB is still my first choice, he’s going to be hard to beat whatever his chosen race, just watched the re-run of his latest win again, even though I knew the result I still couldn’t see him make the frame as they turned in. He won’t let his supporters down on attitude
SIMONSIG is a horse who has a big future, but probably over fences. I was rather surprised he’s even been entered in The Supreme, I had him as one of my leading fancies for the 3 miler but he hasn’t even been entered.
I’m not sure if a horse without an entry in this race can be supplemented but if she was mine I’d be very tempted to supplement BABY SHINE, a mare who would surely have an outside chance at a decent price should she tuirn up on the day. She is closely linked on form to the much touted Colour Sergeant, whom she’d appear to have the beating of. She must have been the unluckiest loser of the season at Southwell today when suffering one of the worst rides one is likely to see in a long time. Despite nearly being knocked through the rails twice she showed a real appetite for a battle when just failing to overcome buffeting that would have knocked alesser horse to the ground. Her Festival target, according to her trainer, is The David Nicholson’s Mares Hurdle but The Neptune would sure represent a more winnable option, no Quevega, no Voler La Vedette.
Back to The Neptune I still can’t rule out.COTTON MILL, CORBALLY GHOST, FINGAL BAY or MOUNT BENBULBEN who have all got to be feared but I’ve just about rules out Dylan Ross.

NJH reported today that Broadback Bob got injured at Cheltenham the other week and misses the Festival. Why he took 3 weeks to tell us, I don’t know.

I’d be unbelievably surprised if Simonsig didn’t run in the Supreme. The race looks tailor-made for him.

Robbie Power said what I have long suspected in that he ‘hates riding horses that find nothing off the bridle’. He likes Fingal Bay.

Andrew Lynch likes Monksland EW (‘improving all the time’).

Davy Russell thinks Boston Bob goes for the Albert Bartlett.

Topspeed ratings say Simonsig cannot win this race. Just 97 for yesterday’s run. Great RPR though on 151.

Then this is the real reason why Simonsig could be Neptune bound

Coming round to Zarks’ opinion on sous in this race. I already have a over 9 points built up on the 16s for Monksland but had a dam good sorting of this race and Sous les Sieux looks all over the Mullins horse for this race surely.

At 16-1 also it is a price tha has to be covered for a few points. If Boston Bob goes albert Bartlett which he simply has to in my opinion then the race is between the top 3 remaining, being Fingal, Monk and Sous.

In that case the 16-1 will look extremely big on the day. QUite simply, ignoring the race where he came third, the latest effort was very smart, he made up loads of ground of the slow pace on the shifty front running winner.

Going to get half my points total from monk on this one i think and have them against the field.

I don’t think there are all that many standout contenders and the 16s available baffle me.

I’m also on SLC and think Mullins has dropped it back in trip the last few runs to improve it’s hurdling. It obviously wants a trip and 2 1/2 round here looks ideal. Made a slight mistake last time but stayed on.
Fiveforthree was running over 2 miles before this race
Mikael D’Haguenet’s last run before this race was over 2 miles.

Simonsig has apparently had a small breathing op.

    Simonsig is Neptune-bound.

Drift on Fingal Bay. Matched earlier at 11.0. Was £124 up at 7.0 10 minutes ago, currently £80 at 8.0.

Fingal Bay has a near-hind hamstring injury. Doubtful Festival runner.

Like SLS also, however his only poor effort came on good so the ground would be a worry for me, particularly as the mid range forecast is for the dry weather to continue.

Apparently Nicholls said at the Exeter Preview Evening tonight that Prospect Wells is running in the Supreme because Graham Wylie (who owns him) said that his other horse Boston Bob is running in the Neptune.
