i think we both meant cotton mill.

I think wed is my favourite day of the festival. Prefer one and two to three and four, like the novice evenets and they seem to be where i am best at betting and returns.

Probably get two seconds this year. I have actually covered the monk and bob in this but rate fingals very highly. I’ll increase on thoses two before the da and saver on fingals i think. i am adamant the winner is in those 3.

If only all races were won by the top rated horse wouldn’t we all be very rich?

1998-2011, every winner who raced more than once rated at least 145. Maybe goes even further back, haven’t checked.

Sorry Zark Monksland has too. Been lclosely at this.

No, only rated 143 on RPRs. Also by a sire who’s had next to no success at Cheltenham.

I like Sous Les Cieux for the win, Batonnier each way. Think that horse has more to come.

    The horses who’ve posted a rating good enough to win this race are;

Simonsig, Boston Bob, Fingal Bay, Sous Le Cieux, Broadback Bob and Mount Benbulben.

Everything else falls below the standard required at the moment.

Given Henderson’s record in the race, along with the 7 year olds’ record, I suppose that leaves you with Fingal Bay and Sous Le Cieux, and the fact you’re crossing your fingers for Fingal Bay being Albert Bartlett-bound, I think I’ve just done your work for you.

Well I’ve been saying for a few weeks now that I want to be on Sous Le Cieux. He’s also French-bred and Irish-trained, a combination that has enjoyed a lot of success in the race over the past 6 years. All I want from him is a big run in the Deloitte before I get on. Will probably have £25 on him, deposit an amount equal to the potential winnings from that £25 bet and just hope I can get on at 16s before any bookies cut the price.

Mount Belbunlen is headed for the Albert Bartlett, Bob and Bob as you say are 7yos, Fingal Bay is just too slow, he can’t win. Simonsig worries me despite Criminal’s (ironic name, if any lawyers are reading) septic record in the rsce but it looks like he’s Supreme-bound anyway.

Zarks: Get the bet on whilst the race is running if it is looking good! The 2 bookies that are generally slowest off the mark are Billys and Joe’s mate 8)

Conditions look in his favour for Sunday, now definitely looks the right time to get on. If he wins the Deloitte, which I think he will, I think he looks hot for the Neptune. My only concern is, is he another Zaidpour? Saying that, Zaidpour went for the Supreme which in hindsight was clearly a mistake. I think we’ll learn a lot from Sunday.

Another Zaidpour I believe he is. Surely will want further and I can’t have him for the Neptune now.

God this is a fickle business

I really don’t understand what you want from him. Zaidpour ran in the Supreme after he finished 2nd in the Deloittie, well beaten. Sous Le Cieux will run in the Neptune after he’s been beaten less than 2L in a PREP RACE for the Festival. Today’s race was over 2m 2f, you do know that right? How much further does he need? A step-up from 2m 2f to 3m?

Quick pace, Mullins will have him fitter, his French breeding and slow rivals – so many reasons why Sous Le Cieux is the only possible horse I can back for the Neptune.

He won at 2 1/2 miles on soft ground – to me proof he’d prefer further.

He got soundly beaten at 2 miles, not a pacey horse.

Today over 2 miles 2f, granted they may have let the outsider go but he finished like a pure stayer, one for me whose best prizes on sounder ground will be over a trip.

Sorry if you disagree Zarks but that’s where I see his future lying.

Think the Mullins horse would appreciate stiff two and a half around Cheltenham. Good prep for the Neptune. Assume enhances Boston Bob even more likely for Albert Bartlett.

Anyone know if Simonsig is a definite runner at Kelso on Wednesday, gets 10lbs from Binocular, the stiff hill and long run in at Kelso at the end of 2m2f is ideal for a horse that needs at least that trip and this race, and how he compares to Binocular, would be a great guide to which race he should go in in March. I’ve always felt he needs at least 2m4f.
Looks good EW on Wednesday if there’s enough runners.

Binocular is going straight to Cheltenham

Simonsig has a few options before then. I honestly believe that Geraghty has convinced Henderson to go for the Supreme

Those who think Simonsig will be going for The Albert Bartlett need to check the entries, Simonsig is not entered in this race.

I’d agree with those who felt that the 3 miler was his best option, distance wise, but if he did go for The Albert Bartlett he’s likely to bump into Boston Bob, a prospect I feel is best avoided, so surely the Neptune is the best option?

I am hoping that fingal and boston bob go for neptune and albert bartlett. i would be all over both in singles and doubles.

Both have been absolute nails this year. Do like monksland too and will cover him.

Was on battonnier last time and he looks a fair ew shout at the odds.

Simonsig will surely go fot this race, he obviously stays well but his jumping doesn’t look sharp enough for a 2 mile Grade 1
