Fortunate to get up? Did you see his passage through the race? He himself was stopped when Elixir fell?! That haulted his momentum. Earlier in the race, he had to come wide for room. I’m struggling to see what you get from his races that determines sulking? Are you saying a horse that doesn’t race in the first 2 or 3 all the time is a sulker?
Chantry House finished 11ls back. He won his beginners chase like a good horse, and has had to have a back operation since his last run. So i think you’re very premature there!Twitter: Jackh1092

E/W: Saint Calvados – RyanairJanuary 12, 2021 at 17:12 #1517334cork I must ask, was when he put min to the sword a saunter round for CPS ? I don’t understand that its indicative that he’s never had a hard race ?
nap: CPS
lay: has to be epetante in the CH, 9/4? ill lay that all day
ew: melon @33/1 in the gold cup, for a horse who typically saves it for cheltenham, he’s done alright this season, also buveur dair in the CH @25/1 even at 70% of what he was capable of would probably be enough to place. the prices behind Shiskin are too big (he should win) but I’m assuming they are priced that way as the market is assuming they will swerve it because of him, can’t see that happening this year, I think most will take there chance.
id like to add to what I read bout Shiskin above, I do not agree with ship, atall. but I did think for about a half furlong that Shiskin was going to get beat, clearly that notion was quickly wrong, I’m still unsure as to why I thought that but when I watch it back at the same point I still get that notion, he looks the best horse in the race by a considerable margin, but odds on novice at chelt, ill probably have a small lay, I was heavily heavily against him in the supreme, so I will be treading lightly!.

I thought that too
And nico definitely didn’t look overly pleased after the race

For a minute, he didn’t look as smooth as maybe his debut did, i’d agree. I’m more trying to work out how that means he’s a sulker which has been mentioned by Ship.
Ship since you focus in on this very heavily, could you tell me the time on the replay where he looks “sulky” to your eye?
Also, for a minute, Envoi didn’t look smooth in the Ballymore last year. Plenty of horses have moments!

January 12, 2021 at 23:40 #1517359Nap: Shishkin/Envoi Allen – best 2 novice chasers I’ve seen since Sprinter Sacre – and the Shishkin debate, sounds like ship only likes bridle merchants. Ship must have thought harchibald was the greatest of all time then. Doesn’t buy horses that show tendacnies to ‘sulk’. You’ll hate Big Bucks, Altior, Paisley Park then, terrible trio of horses
Lay: zanahiyr – often see the winner of this race after Christmas and a lot of these have only had 1 or 2 runs and can improve any amount at this age and haven’t stacked up the English/Irish form enough yet to know who has the better 4 year olds yet.
Each way: Mister Coffey county hurdle. Looked about 2 stone ahead of the handicapper on debut this season and then just seemed to get a bit stuck in sticky ground next time when sent off 6/4 in a hot handicap. Bit better ground come Cheltenham and I think this horse is still very well handicapped
January 13, 2021 at 05:08 #1517377Fair enough Ham, I take your point about CPS. All I am saying is I would not want to take 6/4 against a horse who is known to be fragile, will be in his toughest race yet and is unproven on the track.
I suspect the bookies will take him on and he will be a bigger price on the day. And I will happily be proven wrong if he hacks up for you!
January 13, 2021 at 05:22 #1517378Whats with NAPs having 2 horses anyway?. Make your minds up

Lay appreciate itJanuary 18, 2021 at 14:17 #1518084Nap: Envoi Allen. Not very original but i can’t see a chink of weakness in him. Good temperament, travels well, jumps well, quickens well, unbeaten etc.
Lay: Chacun Pour Soi. No doubting his ability but he’s fragile and things will have to go smoothly in the build up and during the race too. He’s too short for me.
E/W: Black Tears in the Coral Cup. Clear second last year to Dame De Companie so could argue not a very original selection either. Slightly higher mark this time around but not by much and i don’t see another future graded winner lurking in the betting for this. 40/1 excellent value imo.
