September 10, 2017 at 15:51 #1317191Got Happily at 9.6 on the Exchange. Been a decent day for me with also having Caravaggio and Shamreen.
September 10, 2017 at 15:51 #1317192Alpha Centauri was woeful. Went out like a light and weakened badly. I didn’t like the look of her in the paddock, the O’Brien fillies looked in far better condition.
Well done Happily fans but I doubt we are any clearer on the Guineas, other than Alpha Centauri looking a bust after that race today.
It’s getting a bit harder to fancy September as well but the Harrington filly was awful and that was after the jockey making bullish noises regarding her chances.
Gutted, but well done to those who kept faith in Happily after her defeat last time.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 10, 2017 at 15:52 #1317194Happily’s SP was apparently 13/2, I will take it.

I do think that Happily is the best horse out of both and I understand the doubts about the ground but even then, she didn’t deserve to have twice the price of Magical.
Very dissapointed about Alpha Centauri. Didn’t quicken at all.
September 10, 2017 at 15:55 #1317195I try not to put too much stock in so called stable form, but Harrington’s flat form has been pretty poor recently. In the past month:
57 runners
3 winners
17 placed
0.47 A/E
0.65 I/VAlpha Centuri, as a result, might be one to forgive in the context of this.

A horse her size youd have to think she would cone on for the run with such a gap in between races, she seemed to be in desperate need of a run watching that back
September 10, 2017 at 16:23 #1317204Am on Clemmie and Alpha Centauri for the Guineas, so I believe they’re both top quality fillies in the making. Former did really well in the Cherry Hinton considering is bred to do a lot better at 7f and a mile. Latter is a big brute of a filly – type to improve with maturity. Trouble is Jessie’s current form worries me, so have made Clemmie my main bet @ 3/1 with a saver on Alpha @ 7/2. Magical won the Debutante and is definitely a good filly, but did seem to have the run of the race that day. Don’t think there’s as much between Magical and Happily than the betting implies. 9/1 for the Happily too big to ignore. September ran well at Ascot – less well in the Debutante; is only small and may not have as much improvement in her, possibly better on firmer ground and/or needs a mile by now too. So many negatives in September.
For today’s race:
81 points @ 3/1 Clemmie
24 points @ 9/1 Happily
30 points @ 7/2 Alpha CentauriProbably right decision not to run Clemmie, those that ran today all pretty good fillies but if there’s a Ballydoyle superstar filly for 2018 it’s Clemmie.
With the betfair reduction factor Happily paid 6.94/1.
As said beforehand, form of the Harrington yard an a valid excuse for Alpha Centauri.Value Is EverythingSeptember 10, 2017 at 16:24 #1317207Shame Gustav was withdrawn, would have liked to see how he fares against Verbal Dexterity. Looked so good again, one for the Guineas for sure.
September 10, 2017 at 17:34 #1317228Lots of people writing September off after one dissappinting run when, in all honesty, she looked like she would come on for the run.
I had no bets at all today on the horses but I’m pleased with how September has run.
She screams Oaks horse which is all I wanted to see.
I can see it in the stars as she gallops away from them at Epsom
