I thought the plan of re-opening was to do these things on a Monday on the quiet days of the week unlike the first lockdown when the pubs reopened on a Saturday and were totally packed. Whether we have a vaccine in or not we do not want to innundate the bookies with punters in the first weeks back. There is an opportunity to bet online if you so wish.
February 26, 2021 at 14:08 #1525462Gutless decision, absolutely awful, common sense MIA as usual from this sport’s decisionmakers.
When we’re lamenting abysmal prize money and moaning about owners and trainers leaving the sport in their droves in the next year, we can all thank those who made or supported this call for playing their part. That’s a huge amount of money missing from the sport’s coffers.
February 27, 2021 at 10:32 #1525580Things should re-open gradually – having tens of thousands descend on bookie shops within a week or two of the relaxation of lockdown is NOT what racing or any of those with an interest in it should have been advocating.
February 27, 2021 at 13:32 #1525624I can see both sides.
Better for Racing’s coffers with a move.
Better for Racing’s image if it isn’t.

Would other sports not take advantage of the calendar?
