November 13, 2011 at 20:22 #377732I notice HF lost this race to Solwhit in 2009. Thousand Stars might be a better bet than HF at 1-2.
November 13, 2011 at 23:42 #377763The 2009 renewal was only soon after Hurricane Fly had been gelded and he was lit up like a Christmas tree that day for whatever reason. His reappearance last year in the Hattons Grace was flawless.
Thousand Stars is more likely to go to Fairyhouse I’d have thought. Read a quote from Harrington recently that Oscars Well is likely to go straight to Fairyhouse too with Murphy confirming after the Lismullen today that VLV will join them. Unaccompanied will hardly run on her third successive weekend and So Young didn’t live up to the hype at either Cheltenham or Punchestown.
With only Pittoni to beat so, 1/2 looks very reasonable IMO.
November 14, 2011 at 02:33 #377779Can’t wait to see him run again even though he is Unopposable.!!! Total madness even thinking about opposing Hurricane Fly when there are hundreds of fav in a week much less talented you can take on.
Either put the piggybank on or leave it alone IMO
November 14, 2011 at 22:30 #377922I see HF is also entered at Fairyhouse. So maybe premature to back him antepost. Pittoni e/w 1/5 odds at 5/1 looks good value though with a couple of bookies.
November 15, 2011 at 00:11 #377945This race was the plan for Hurricane Fly last year but he had to be pulled out at the last minute because he had a cough. The Hattons Grace wasn’t on the agenda until it was pushed back because of the weather.
I’d say he’s only entered in it this year as a precaution. Morgiana/December Festival Hurdle/Irish Champion/Cheltenham/Punchestown looks like the plan all things being equal.
November 15, 2011 at 01:17 #377950I like Thousand Stars EW Ante Post, if Hurricane Fly isn’t 100% Mullins won’t run him, so 8/1 seems generous, and pretty much guaranteed to run.
November 15, 2011 at 03:12 #377954I’d be wary of backing Thousand Stars and be asking why he’s 8/1?
I think all things considered you may find Thousands Stars either wont run or it’s nothing more than a prep race for the Hatton Grace. That’s not to say he can’t finish placed if he does run. I’d tend to wait until the day and rather than throwing my win money down the drain I’d double up on the place market.
I can’t see Hurricane Fly running in both and don’t forget Thousand Stars outpointed both Binocular and Menorah when 2nd to him last season.
The owners must be a bit fed up of him finishing placed and be looking for WM to give him a chance to win a decent race or 2 this season.
I know I would rather he got used to winning again if I was the owner. Finishing 5 times behind Hurricane Fly plus 2 other defeats can become habit forming.
November 15, 2011 at 16:27 #378027I’d say the thousand stars owners are happy enough …
November 15, 2011 at 16:37 #378029It would be more logical to run Thousand Stars at Fairyhouse – longer distance and same prize money as the Morgiana. So presumably he is only in this one in case HF cries off.
With a run here I guess he would be about 3-1 with HF and evens without HF, as he is better than everything except HF. Hence the antepost 7-1 odds suggest he is a doubtful runner.

Thanks! Never realised he’d won in France. Did look but at the Sportinglife who once again failed to keep records of foreign wins
Glad to hear Wullie is paying attention to what I say
November 16, 2011 at 09:19 #378109According to RP today Pittoni might swerve this to run at Fairyhouse.

November 16, 2011 at 09:55 #378119Hurricane Fly out……
November 16, 2011 at 10:08 #378121There was a slight drift on HF last night on Betfair. It will be interesting to hear what Willie has to say today.
November 16, 2011 at 10:14 #378123I like Thousand Stars EW Ante Post, if Hurricane Fly isn’t 100% Mullins won’t run him, so 8/1 seems generous, and pretty much guaranteed to run.
Love being right!
November 16, 2011 at 13:14 #378138Sad news HF is out, but makes it much more of a betting heat now.
I cant believe Oscars Well is 5/2. Fantastic price imo. I respect Pittoni as an improver, but he doesnt have any form that warrants favouritism to me. The difference in prices between him and OW is baffling.
And Thousand Stars will surely need this, and wants further.
