According to the news….."Due to injury his World Cup hopes are dashed."
Come on, get real, he never had a cat in Hell’s chance of even being thought of as a World Cup candidate, did he? His World class days are long behind him but his ego kidded him into thinking that if he got a regular first team place then he’d be Capello’s choice. No way, Jose.
No-win No-Pay lawyers use Owen as an example of what it’s like to be accident-prone. The guy’s a limping disaster and has been for years.
Liverpool F.C. were really lucky that he did the dirty and opted for Newcastle. Owen has been stuck up his own backside ever since that so-called ‘wonder-goal’ against a bunch of Sunday pub footballers.
I wish he’d just retire to his ranch and give us all a break from yet another ‘second coming’.

p.s. Before you ask, I can’t stand the traitor.March 5, 2010 at 13:48 #280585Im a Newcastle fan, and i didnt mind him leaving us.
Missed more opportunities than he scored, and wasn’t half the player he used to be, especially for the wage he got at the Toon.
March 5, 2010 at 14:38 #280606I’m not sure if it was Owen doing the dirty and opting for Newcastle or whether or not Benitez really wanted to sign him.
What makes me laugh is that when he left Liverpool for Madrid it was reported that the reason for Owen leaving was because he had ambitions of winning the Champions League only for L’Pool to win it the same season he left.

Was Sunday’s Carling Cup the 1st trophy Owen has won since leaving L’Pool?

March 5, 2010 at 15:36 #280623GWDS – when is the Black and White army returning to the Premiership? Do the fans still travel to away matches in that fire engine bedecked in your colours?
NH – maybe you’re right about Benitez – perhaps he was testing Owen’s commitment to the cause by delaying the negotiations. At least he saved a load of ‘sick pay’ being squandered.
KMarch 5, 2010 at 17:02 #280639Yeh, get to a few away games, especially with more being within closer proximity.
Hopefully we will get promoted this season, then it is down to Mike Ashley to back his manager properly.
