I’m interrupting a sumptuous meal in a lovejoyesque pub just washed it down with a pint of Guinness to bring you the lucky last at kempton 2030
    Wadacre Gomez
    Win
    Robert Walpole
    Each way
    Waterloo sunset
    Each way
We have three runners here all on good marks all tipped up a draw data runner too
I also recommend a combination forecast
Robert Walpole is a stable switcher and runs off the same mark as last run a winning one from may last year. Has been hurdling and can be relied to go fit here from that. 500 plus days since last flat run but it was a winning one….,

Waterloo Sunset at 17/2 a nice way to finish off the day Sam
Pity that Wadacre Gomez had to stop riding for a couple of strides
late on, being short of room, could have finished closer than 4th.
Robert Walpole had a bleed, nothing you can do about that Sam, it
    happens.

Sounds like some lovely grub there :good:

Well done with Waterloo Sunset Sam…my favourite song by the Kinks..you’re probably too young to remember them.

Hope you enjoyed your pub grub and Guinness, I tried some when we were in Belfast in the Crown Bar, the oldest bar and Gin Palace in the country…it was draft Guiness and it was like velvet…went to my head though..lol  Jac

I know what you mean about the Guinness Jac. One of the best holidays we
ever had was when Marjorie was very pregnant with our 1st, Ross, and we
went to County Kerry and stayed in a farm house. The farmers wife was an
amazing cook which might account for Ross being 9lbs 7ozs. Anyway, there
was nothing near there except a shop, strangely enough called Clarks, which
happens to be my name. It was a shop during the day and a pub in the evening.
Peat fire roaring away, locals in and soon the fiddle was out and they sang
away. To get to the point, I’d tried Guinness at some pubs at home, it always
looked great but it was just ok. I thought, well I’ve got to have a pint of
Guinness, as that’s all the punters drank, and I swear it was like drinking
nectar. I don’t know why it should be so different, but it’s definitely
different over in Ireland. I got a good pic of me standing under the Clarks
sign and Marjorie doing the same although she looked like she had swallowed
    a medicine ball

Weather was brilliant, I got sunburn. In my top 3 of holidays :yahoo:

Lovely tale about the Guinnesssnd yes it is different gravy in Ireland. I had a bottle of Guinness stout watching the rugby last week and it was lovely. Just the right temperature it seems absence makes the heart grow fonder as I hadn’t been partaking of the black velvet for an age. It always good but each time I go to Ireland it’s great.

Love your tales of Irish nectar Graham 🍺 Must be something in the water in Ireland as over here it just tastes so bitter.

How did Dufrense get on Sam? I couldn’t find the result..Jac

I wish I could tell you Jac, that Andy fought the good fight, and the Stewards let him be. I wish I could tell you that – but racing is no fairy-tale world. He never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile – racing life consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, Andy would show up with fresh carrots. The Stewards kept at him – sometimes he was able to fight ’em off, sometimes not. And that’s how it went for Andy – that was his routine. I do believe those first two furlongs were the worst for him, and I also believe that if things had gone on that way, this race would have got the best of him.”

Dufrense broke well and led around the first turn but tied up in the home straight. Headed and passed by three rivals gallant fourth. I probably have a 33% win rate in us racing.

A couple of winners and a small forecast yesterday Tiger beetle 🪲 ran a blinder to win the lucky last at wolves. I think I’m a little distracted by tonight’s England game. It’s only a third place play off and it’s fair to say England didn’t want to be there while clearly Argentina did. Two or three highlights for me,an exciting prospect in winger Harry Arundell probably the most exciting winger since Martin Offiah.
The question is wether sub Ford can get in and find some “redemption” tonight. Hopefully Farrell wil break a finger nail and come off to be replaced by the player who has done nothing wrong but has been a victim of poor selection and not a little bad blood from captain Farrell and the coach . The wrong side of thirty, ( in the coaches eyes) He’s the “Briggs” of the team. The shawsam redemption.

Thanks Sam sorry Dufrense didnt get that place but your race description was more exciting than a Dick Francis tale.

Well done with Tiger Beetle last night and ‘Come On England’ tonight.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🥅 ⚽️

    Hi Triptych,
You might be more familiar with the original narration from the film, the shawshanks redemption.
I was sorting through my Dads stuff, and he’d scribbled on a piece of paper. “Shawshanks redemption, best film I’ve ever seen”.
For a guy who been brought up on a rock solid diet of Cagney, Bogart and John Wayne a prison drama 🎭 about redemption and love was far removed from the usual tough guy stuff he revelled in. It’s a great film and at that time I’d yet to see it. Got the dvd in 2004 and it’s worn out now.

Red: I wish I could tell you that Andy fought the good fight, and the Sisters let him be. I wish I could tell you that – but prison is no fairy-tale world. He never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile – prison life consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, Andy would show up with fresh bruises. The Sisters kept at him – sometimes he was able to fight ’em off, sometimes not. And that’s how it went for Andy – that was his routine. I do believe those first two years were the worst for him, and I also believe that if things had gone on that way, this place would have got the best of him.

Great call Sam – Shawshank Redemption is in my top ten favorite movies of all time – probably top five! I grew up with John Wayne westerns, love Bogart, Film Noir gangster movies, etc. but there’s something about Shawshank that is special.

I can’t let the first day of Cheltenham go by without posting a horse or two  In the 3:55 I like Toto Too & Kasminas – there are a few decent novices in this one, so it should be a good race. In the 3:20 I like Way Out E/Way who has some serious Irish Point to Point form.

Now I have to get back to studying for my Daylight Cup second leg against Jac tomorrow.

Good Luck with all your bets.
