"RSN Racing and Sport " is the Station you want. All races are played here. They also have an App which is good and you can listen to their carnival program on race days

I hope this helps it a great racing channel in Melbourne

    Best of luck

If you and your family had been one of the most successful breeders of middle-distance ‘osses and stayers in the world, and you had entered your first ‘oss in the MC this year, would you especially want to make it a winner? Have had a long term plan? Waiting till you’d got a better than good chance of winning it?

Verema, has me thinking along those lines. Either the Aga or his racing manager were talking up their horse a bit recently. For what either are worth, I’ve done it with Mount Athos.

Hmm; like your thinking, Grimes. A very canny man is the Aga. Going to look a bit closer at that one. When’s the barrier draw?

Download the tunein app to your phone, pc or tablet. Then search sport and racing. They have some Australian racing channels on there.

I wrote a blog last week on the tell-tale signs that Verema is without doubt, the one to beat next week.

After she won the Prix Kergorlay, I was certain that she would make a Hong Kong Vase contender. The Aga Khan has run three fillies / mares in the race to run first, second and fourth.

So, nominating the Melbourne Cup came as a huge surprise. But then the stats of Melbourne Cup horses in the Hong Kong Vase are as strong as Aga Khan female horses in the Vase. Dunaden and Red Cadeaux have won the last two Vases; Americain ran third and Purple Moon came awfully close to denying Doctor Dino.

Join the dots and on 53 kg you have the most likely winner.

Is she a definite runner? I was confused by her weight; do mares get some sort of allowance?

    She is guaranteed a start.

I don’t know of filly and mare allowances but she has stolen home base with that weight.

All that gets in her way, I think, is the barrier. Anything inside 7 or 8 will hurt. Prefer her to be drawn wide and remain traffic-free rather than try to weave through and rely on pure turn-of-foot.

    7 pm* Saturday, here, moehat:

    http://www.racenet.com.au/melbourne-cup … r-draw.asp

*That must be Aussie time. We’ll need to check how many hours ahead of us they are in Melbourne. I believe Perth is 8 hours ahead, but the distances there… I’m nearer to Moscow than to my sister-in-law in NSW.

Interesting info, MDeering. Must have a look at your blog now.

People like to have a feather in their cap, if they can, Andy; especially, if they can do so by ‘working a flanker’ – ‘under the radar’! Winner with his first runner. Hope so!

    moehat,

if you want to do a dry run on the first day of the festival, HKJC are simulcasting six races from Victoria Derby Day this Saturday, 02:30 – 06:30 UK time.

which means a free 60+ page pdf form guide by right-clicking and saving from the Download Race Form (All Races) button above the silks here:

    http://racing.hkjc.com/racing/overseas/ … 31102/S1/1

its not yet in final form since final selections await the final decs.

(the two races from Rosehill are fillers, only there for continuity because the HK government doesn’t allow simulcasts to exceed four hours, limiting what can be taken from Flemington).

yes, early Saturday morning UK time – Melbourne is 11 hours ahead of UK so 02:30 UK is 13:30 Melbourne, time of the first race covered.

(Breeders Cup not rating a mention from HKJC).

Weren’t the first two drawn 5 and 2 last year?

And it just so happened to be a race run well below the average tempo of a Melbourne Cup.

Which made it impossible for Mount Athos to make up the ground on Green Moon, Fiorente or Jakkalberry — despite nearly breaking the speedometer he came home that fast.
