I’m going with the Post so well done Tony!
January 23, 2009 at 22:48 #206111Tony rode a winner in the Donkey Derby for charity so your all wrong

I would have thought all winners count but I can undersatand the big pictureis NH rides. That is afterall what he is known for and no doubt the press will have a f ield day when he does it…….either way the word GREAT flows easily from the mouth when you talk about the man
January 24, 2009 at 07:23 #206172Funniest thing is, whithout AP, Richard Johnson would be a 13 time Champion jockey, even though he has ridden over 1000 less winners than him! AP is a legend.!
January 26, 2009 at 23:59 #206658Nice article on the subject by Alan Lee…
January 27, 2009 at 23:36 #206789Official confirmation from John Randall in the Post today, that Kilbeggan Blade at Towcester was the 3000th under both codes.
RP statistical section still showing AP with 85 Irish jumps winners, but JR’s article says 88, so that latter figure has to be gospel.
Tony has a good book of rides @ Leicester tomorrow, but it would be great for him to ride the 3000th jump winner on Saturday live on C4.

He said in his Saturday column in the Telegraph that he doesn’t count his flat winners.
January 29, 2009 at 05:16 #206979He also got over five minutes’ worth of interviewing about the forthcoming 3000th winner from Nicky Campbell, Shelagh Fogarty and Vassos Alexander on Five Live this morning. Well, sort of, in between being asked how many bones he’s ever broken and when he last ate a kebab.

January 30, 2009 at 12:18 #207151I concur with pretty much all the previous posts on McCoy’s brilliance but can’t accept that Scu was as good as Francome (see other posts on Francome’s tipping ability) What about the other high winning jockeys? What exactly are the lifetime numbers of winners of Scu, Jonjo, Dunwoody etc – and exactly how many has Richard Johnson got so far – he must almost be the second most winning jockey and never been champion!!
January 30, 2009 at 12:55 #207153Welcome, Roger.

January 30, 2009 at 13:23 #207159Anybody know what the return to a 1 pound level stake would be for every horse AP has ridden?"
And for the statto’s out there, could they compare it to R.Johnson, K.Fallon, J.Spencer and L.Dettori?
January 30, 2009 at 15:49 #207170Using to the RP site (albeit that they are missing 3 winners somewhere, which I’ve added on, but presumably may be missing a few odd rides as well), this is the overall picture, flat & jumps

This is for AP I pressume?
January 30, 2009 at 16:47 #207178That’s a hell of a strike rate over such a long period.
I wonder if A.P. is as bothered by numbers as we and the media appear to be.

January 30, 2009 at 21:47 #207205Although obviously impossible, it would be interesting to know what his level stakes profit would be to all the horses ‘true price’. My point being, his level stakes return is poor because he could ride a 3 legged tortoise and the bookies would still not want to lay it!
