I was quite interested in Commodore here, but he has an entry at Wincanton on Thursday, so I’ll hold fire for now.

On his win in this last year, Deise Aba must have a shout, especially off the sane mark, but you’d have to be concerned with what he’s done so far this season.

I’m very keen on one here though, and that’s A Toi Phil. Ex Gigginstown horse, who I always thought a very good horse, and I was surprised when they got shot of him, especially after winning The Southampton Chase at Limerick.

He ended up with Gary Moore, and I haven’t forgotten his run for the new yard, behind Native River in The Denman, no doubt the old spark was still there, it was a proper eyecatching run, yet he still went down a couple of pounds.

The Grand National was the plan for the new owners, and though he was struggling to get in anyway after Newbury, a run here would give him a great chance of a place in the line up.

He looks well treated off 138. He made his comeback last month at Kempton, where he was entitled to need it, and I thought he ran a rock solid race.

I just think he’s a smashing price here, and I’d be very confident he can get in the money at the very least.

Cogry at 25-1. They’ve got to the root of the issue that caused his retirement. He’s probably going to be rusty, but at 25-1, I think he’s got a great chance of making the frame.

I backed Calipso Collognes at 14/1 EW yesterday. Only 7 runners now unfortunately. He was a good second behind Lord du Mesnil in the deep ground at Haydock a year ago. His last two runs were the Becher Chase and the Welsh National. This race will be less competitive and less crowded. That should help him.

Not a deep contest and I’ve gone for the obvious in ASK ME EARLY who is lightly raced and progressive. Unimaginative I grant you, but I think it will win.

Turned into a slog with Deise Aba staying on better than 4 others up to the finish. Ask Me Early’s fate was sealed early on as he didn’t jump at all well and you can’t miss fences at Sandown.
