Yep, At least she does not sit on the fence when discussing various situations in racing.
On this forum people say things which can upset and offend but fair play for saying it in the first place.
July 19, 2008 at 21:04 #173844They could have used some of the space saved to include an interesting racing article, perhaps written by someone like Miss H.
Time racing coverage has collapsed in the last few weeks. It was appaling today. I am permenantly switching to the inde for Chris McGraths excellent column on Sats now
And he doesnt toe the party line either
If Lydia has been sidelined because of her strong views (not at all certain), then thats apoor reflection of the racing industry….not her. Its absolute rubbish to say that any journalist who takes a non establishment line in any industry is somehow asking for it. Ask Woodward and Bernstein…
And in sport, Cricket writers for example, can be extremely opinionated without wondering whether the boot willbe forthcoming
July 19, 2008 at 22:11 #173859Is it just me, or are a hell of a lot of assumptions being made on this thread?

No, there are.
July 20, 2008 at 09:45 #173909I am sure lydia hislop is a broad minded lady she would have to be working with men in the racing game and is having a good chuckle at all of this
July 20, 2008 at 11:58 #173926Why are you attributing quotes to me that i havent made?
July 22, 2008 at 07:49 #174121Article in the Guardian today, so not selling the Big Issue.

Or writing in it!
July 22, 2008 at 09:35 #174130If Lydia is to be a regular writer, then the Guardian/Observer would have a very strong racing line up.
July 22, 2008 at 09:39 #174131In Greg Wood and Lydia Hislop, The Guardian will have two of the three finest journalists in racing imo, Chris McGrath being the other. A good signing for them!

July 22, 2008 at 10:32 #174139It says Grey Wood is on holiday, so it may just be a "one off" from Lydia…
July 22, 2008 at 12:11 #174159Didn’t think much of the article in the Guardian. Just the same old stuff that she has been spouting about bent jockeys and corruption.
July 22, 2008 at 12:34 #174164Why is it that the vast majority of Lydia’s (& Greg Wood for that matter) ‘racing’ articles ignore the sport and focus on the industry?

Because the vast majority of their colleagues ignore the industry and focus on the sport?
July 22, 2008 at 14:57 #174195can people please make up their mind on whether its ok to cheat etc. Seems that some were saying Chambers should never be allowed to run again, yet the same people are saying lets lay off Culhane etc….
July 22, 2008 at 15:14 #174203I wish Culhane had been banned for life.
