No Times piece since end of May?
And even before that, the writing was often booted off to the website
Whats going on?
July 2, 2008 at 10:53 #171286Perhaps her pre-Derby piece has been her undoing?
July 2, 2008 at 11:05 #171291…and no posts on these hallowed pages since February 25th.
I fear that Lenny Kravitz or Kwai Chang Caine must have spirited her away in an act of vengeance against TRF and all who sail in it.

July 2, 2008 at 11:08 #171293Perhaps the good lady is on holidays. I havent seen her on RUK for a while either.
July 2, 2008 at 12:07 #171311Not over keen on defending myself against stupid comments at the best of times, but i think you should quickly delete that.
The childish stuff (which you have now contributed to) about Lydia has possibly driven her away from this forum…which is to no ones benefit
I was not part of that and never will be
I would have thought that any serious racing fan would have missed her pieces in the Times

July 2, 2008 at 12:17 #171314To be fair Marb, Clive wasn’t commenting on her absence form the forum (that was a tongue in cheek comment from GC) moreso her Times articles.

July 2, 2008 at 12:21 #171315This place gets more and more like the BF forum with comments like that.
I think there needs to be a serious review of the current membership, and a temporary halt to accepting new members. This place has gone seriously downhill in the past 12 months; intelligent debates are a thing of the past, and threads on rides given by a jockey are rampant.
Marble – perhaps you should try to save some face and delete that comment.
July 2, 2008 at 12:29 #171319and to continue as devils advocate befoe the thread gets out of hand…
Marble IMO does add worthy contribution Salselon – granted the humour of earlier today was slightly erroneous it seems.
Questioning the current membership would seem a bit harsh.
While serious debate should remain the primary concern of the forum a little humour now and again never hurt (unless of course it’s taken out of context

July 2, 2008 at 12:35 #171322Erroneous? Wouldn’t agree with that. Very much out of order – in fact, I remember certain folk getting banned for less.

Yes…i found the suggestion hilarious that the sole objective of my post was to enable to some type of sexual relief
Pathetic is the word i would use
I can hit hard with humour sometimes but the key is to edit what you have posted if it is clearly misinterpreted or caused some offence.

Very much so, Clive, likewise her input here (hence the bringing of that up). Her insightful, direct and on a couple of occasions wryly amusing answers in the Post’s Questionnaire feature a few Sundays ago simply served as a reminder to me of what we’re all missing.
Marb, I’d suggest Clive’s question was anything but “blatant favouritism”; rather, if a racing writer or broadcaster of any profile suddenly drops off the radar, the good burghers here are likely to pick up on it. It’s hard not to. You may remember similar threads on the likes of Ken Pitterson and Peter Harris in the last six months or so, others on Nick Fox and Mel Collier (prior to his reappearance in the Post) some time before that.
Salselon – isn’t “intelligent” rather in the eye of the beholder? The Forum continues to offer dissemination / previews of high-profile races, willing and abundant sharing of information among members (from which festivals to attend to memories of trainers of decades hence), and plenty more besides, and as such to me remains a mostly vibrant and cordial place to be rather than mostly the preserve of just spammers, flamers and after-timers. Maybe I’m just more easily appeased.

July 2, 2008 at 13:22 #171337A lot of the old stalwarts appear to have disappeared from this forum recently, which is a shame. We’re now reduced to threads by people who don’t even bother to do a spell check on the Subject line.
July 2, 2008 at 13:23 #171338marble, if you have any respect for TRF do the right thing and delete the comment.
July 2, 2008 at 13:30 #171341I definitely wouldnt like to see Marble leave the forum, I definitely enjoy his input, however, the comment appears to have caused offence, so all I can recommend is to delete the comment and forget about the issue.
We are all big enough not to hold grudges on internet forums.

According to the RUK website she will be the studio presenter this
Saturday and then have her fair share of spots after that .July 2, 2008 at 17:34 #171372Perhaps the lady in question is, quite rightly in my opinion, taking a break from racing because of the alarming paucity of hurdles and fences at most meetings during the summer??
