    Entries….

Always like a decent bet in this, and situation not made easier by the possibility of Ten Ten and Winter Escape turning up. Both got questions to answer, but Ten Ten can only be better than last time, and I’m sure Winter Escape has one more payday in him. Another in the JP silks, The Shunter, finally gets an entry, and in my notebook for everything in the coming months.

The Gigginstown pair of Conflated and Lieutenant Command of interest also, but entries for The Irish Gold Cup and Thyestes respectively, means it can only be a passing interest right now. I know I should forget him, but as his mark continues to plummet, I just can’t rule out Samcro either.

Not surprisingly, plenty of stablemates of Samcro in there, and hard to be too definite at this stage, but Flouer and Mortal could be the types to go well.

With a confidence building run under his belt, I’d expect a big big run from Annamix
here, while Carefully Selected, has to be considered, though his well-being has to be taken on trust. He also has other entries.

Last but not least, and the one I’ll definitely bet Antepost, is Gallant John Joe. Wouldn’t be the highest profile of these, but has kept good company, plenty of good runs to his name, and I’m sure he’s better than 142.

Can’t have a shortlist with that lot, so early preference for….

    Annamix
    Gallant John Joe
    Ten Ten

I’ve been following Gallant John Joe since his chase debut behind Melon in December 2019. That feels like an awfully long time ago now. I was getting concerned at the start of this season that he was done, but was relieved to see him reappear. I think he’s decent and a handicap like this is well within range.

Another race that has fallen on hard times; I recall Captain Christy running a close and gallant 4th under a massive weight

Haven’t really looked at much the last 48 hours, but every intention to finally bet Gallant John Joe tonight.

Totally missed the 20’s, and now a best priced 8’s.

I’m as well waiting now, but I’m very reluctant to bet him at all now.

Annamix still very near the head of the shortlist, along with the JP pair, Ten Ten, and Winter Escape.

Really should wait until Final Decs with this one, could have done with a few absentees at the last declaration stage.

Played one early though, my old pal Winter Escape.

Probably Annamix and Mortal to go with him, but so hard to split them all right now.

    Winter Escape 33’s

I’ve played A Wave Of The Sea, although he’s entered in two for the weekend and is actually a longer price in this

Twice a winner at the Festival though and at this stage of his career surely this engagement over the longer trip seems the more suitable. 20/1 anyway, it looks feasible until he’s entered over the 2 mile 1 furlong race he won last year. Fingers crossed.

Very tough in the end, but as I’ve bet Mortal for The Cross Country, he’s the one I’ll sacrifice.

I’m also on Blackbow for the win. Looking at his breeding trip should be ok.

My top rated for this one:

    174 Definite Plan
    168 Ten Ten
    167 The Shunter

    165 Samcro
    164 Fan De Blues
    164 Rebel Gold

A spread of odds over the top three so happy to cover the three against the field.

    Fan Des Bleus for me.

Not exactly hiding a lot, but has the ability to win this. First time tongue tie after making a noise a positive.
Back up in trip. Big price for me.
