    Struth 25/1

Not only is this horse best named – Sire Australia, Dam Portrait of A Lady
he also has the best trainer for the race this century or at least the son of…
and to top it off the horse he finished 2nd last time out ran a blinder today

I was at Epsom’s final September meeting last year and went to the paddock to take a look at the 2yos for the Wild Card Stakes.

There was, to my eye, this tall, gangly thing that had some frame but hadn’t even begun to grow into it.

He was by Australia, one of my favourite Derby winners, and looked a typical Australia who would be far better at three once he grew into said frame and tackled middle distances.

His name was Struth – 30 at Betfair Exchange is too big and IMO Nathan has identified a really interesting one for this race.

I liked Bertinelli when he won at Newbury. 13/2 is fair enough.

Desert Hero was favourite in the Newbury race and travelled well for a long way. He was a bit disappointing in the end but 25/1 looks an overreaction to one run.

I was going to leave it at those two but Messrs Davies and Hughes have put the case well for Struth, so I have added him.

Wonder Legend 15-2 bog & Struth 20-1 bog might go well. Ew 5 places.

I’ll go with Valiant King, hopefully well ahead of his mark.

Thanks all. I was a bit worried at how far back he was but it turned out to be exactly the right place to be.
