No i dont think hes too dependant, anything around good to soft -soft is fine, the weight swing with elegant escape should reverse the form from last time, hes ultra consistent, but although the form from mias storm win does not look special, she absolutely bolted up and shes getting 7lbs from This lot, if the ground is good to soft or better she will win, ballyoptic, west approach, elegant escape are all nearly horses, i dont like any of them, fountains windfall was in with a chance when falling so could be thereabouts, off his hurdles mark should be capable of better but not a handicap so..

but i really like this mias storm, she needs to jump better though

And to jump better she needed

Thankfully the soft in places was enough for me to follow my original post

Well done Black Corton supporters, but Fountains Windfall was running a mighty race under a very fine ride by Coleman. Fundamentally a sound jumper who is learning all the time. Will be well worth a bet for the RSA assuming he comes out of that okay.

Yep, would have been interesting if he stood up.

Black Corton, however, is such a tough horse! Wow!

    Well done winners.

I am mightily impressed by that run. Off the front from that pace, that’s a fantastic run.

If there’s any 20s for the RSA, I’ll have a bet. Very good run.

How can anyone say Fountains Windfall is a sound jumper? lol

His form figures are F followed by a F stepped in to graded company. I for one am not convinced by his jumping up to now.

This was a rubbish race really. West approach and elegant escape are not really what you’d consider top class and black corton is a summer horse making the most of average opposition. Mias storm and ballyoptic being fav and second fav tells you all you need to know. Congrats to the winner all the same

The RSA winner should come from IRE again. Mia’s Storm wouldn’t even get into a handicap at the Festival and the Honeyball horse should revert back to hurdles. Two falls at two top tracks (Newbury and Kempton) just shows you that he isn’t ready for chasing. Things will be even faster at Cheltenham in March.

For those who bet based on a visual formline and assume that 2 fs in a row mean ‘bad jumper’, I wish you well in making a profit from the game.

Fountains Windfall isn’t perfect but he’s learning and was a good deal better today than at Newbury jumping much more efficiently (he has the makings of an excellent jumper). After what looked a perfectly timed breather by Coleman he was beginning to assert and looked to have plenty left in the tank. Approaching four out, he took a step left in his final stride before take-off four out and couldn’t quite keep his balance on landing, despite getting all four feet back on the ground.

I’d have no hesitation backing him next time he runs and will back him too for the RSA.

On the back of today and Newbury 3 weeks ago have had a small punt on Elegant Escape for the National Hunt Chase in March :good:

I suppose you thought the same about Desert Orchid, Ex-Ruby?

I thought he jumped well up to that point. Indeed, it was his accurate jumping that made lengths at his fences and made him appear the most likely winner before the mishap. Yes, jumping has to become consistent (like the winner) but all things considered jumping is the Honeyball horse’s asset. Of all the race’s runners he’d be the one I’d take out of the race. Mia’s Storm and Ballyoptic having questions to answer next time after showing their ability today. Race rating of the winner likely to be below most winners of the race.

Wasn’t Dessie 4 from 4 in his first starts over fences?

I too am struggling to get inspired by this seasons group of 3 mile novice chasers. Regardless of whether Fountains would have won (I think so, and this is someone who wanted BC to win so not talking out of my pocket) I can’t see an RSA winner coming out of this. I just hope connections can get their day in the sun with Fountains before the season’s out and he has to step out of novice company.

If a Cheltenham winner was in that field I think it’s Elegant Escape who I think would have a fair chance in the National Hunt Chase. If he ran well there I think he’d be a nice type for the Scottish National.
