Isn’t it curious how the poll percentage for Sakhee’s Secret has risen followiing the race?!

Yes, something very fishy going on today
I can’t remember who I voted for to be honest. I think I went for Sakhee’s but I can’t remember. I know before the race he was the one I wanted to win and if you had to pin me down for a win selection he would have been the one.

July 13, 2007 at 16:04 #107758Great race and superb for racing that the two horses fighting out the finish were 3YOs.
Dutch Art was very unfortunate (not my wallet speaking here, honest!). Hampered at a vital stage, he ran on well up the hill in the final furlong. Such a likable horse – placed in the English and Irish Guineas (would have been placed at Royal Ascot with a better ride) and now placed in an ultra competitive July Cup filled with quality, against older horses. I still maintain he is/was the classiest horse in the race.
What to do with Dutch Art? Has proved he stays a mile but, as expected, has the pace to challenge the best over six. A horse with this level of versatility is surely Breeders Cup bound – Sprint or Mile?
Sakhee’s Secret was racing in only his seventh race so there’s obviously more improvement in him – scary thought.
Sad to see my ew fancy Sander Camillo finish tailed off. While we celebrate two 3YOs fighting out the finish, it’s sad that she hasn’t apparently trained on.

Sakhee’s Secret will beat Dutch Art again at Haydock – he had plenty in hand and there is more improvement to come.

Would have to agree, though I wouldn’t have quite worded it like that

Dutch Art did encounter a bit of trouble, as elluded too by Jimmy Fortune, but Jimmy was also honest enough to say that he was not offering this as an excuse for the defeat and that the best horse won on the day.
Sakhee’s Secret travelled very strongly and once hitting the front he didn’t really have much to race with. Steve Drowne wasn’t overly aggressive either, admitting that the horse did it really well, suggesting there was plenty in the tank.
I can’t wait for the re-match with Soldiers Tail in there also, but at this stage my money would be on Sakhee’s to finish in front without a shadow of a doubt.

I have not stated that Sakhee’s Secret was lucky or undeserving of victory. I merely pointed out that Dutch Art was unfortunate – have I said he would have won? It would have been nice to see what would have happened if he didn’t encounter trouble in-running.
As for Haydock, I assume Peter will keep Dutch Art at sprint distances – the horses next intended target is the Prix Maurice de Gheest, run over an extended six furlongs. He will have other options available to him over a mile.
If Dutch Art does run it will be a mouth watering race. Like MikkyMo said, you throw Soldier’s Tale into the equation, a bit of rain, and you got a great race. Depending on the ground, draw and wellbeing of the respective horses, I’d keep my opinion open on the winner until nearer the race.
July 13, 2007 at 18:27 #107783Very disapointed with my selection, Asset.
I havent seen the race yet but was he hampered in running?

Asset finished sixth and was only beaten about 2L. When you consider how good a race it was, he ran well.
