    Roaring Lion 11/4.

I’d have him Fav around 2s, PW looked to have a right war in the KG and he’s better than the rest over 10F.

If there is to be a major upset (even as bad as he was at Goodwood) Without Parole could be the one at a big price, as I think a step up to 10F could well suit.

I don’t think Latrobe will be suited to a drop back to 10F and he (along with Meydan specialist Thunder Snow) could be the most likely pace angle but it could very well get tactical and sitting out the back may not be the ideal place to be and that is my worry for PW & RL.

Couldn’t have SW as apart from the fact that I think he would be suited by dropping back to a mile a lot of O’Brien runners that have come over here have run badly.

I just went with Poet’s Word. I doubted him last time, with the age stats against him but I reckon he’s a good thing here.

I just don’t rate this years 3YO crop and it’s criminal in a way that the unbeaten at a mile Saxon Warrior has not had the chance to return to that trip. Not satisfied with the most obvious reason for defeat at Epsom, they pissed about and got beat by a dubious quality horse in Latrobe in the Irish version.

Roaring Lion has done well after an awful start to the season but I don’t think he’s value against a horse of Poet’s Word’s quality and toughness.

I expect Poet’s Word to come home clear in this one.

Poet’s Word at 2/1 was/is a rare maximum bet for me.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Not a race to get involved in for me.

Saxon Warrior- i had hoped as Steve says, would have been given a shot back over a mile. However, even at that + the fact Roaring Lion was maybe value for more LTO, i do think SW has a very good chance here. Given a slight break he has never really ran a bad race. Just wish theyd go back over a mile.

Without Parole- Could bounce back and run much better here i think at the price. I would be surprised if they tried to make all, even with the lack of pace on offer.

Poet’s Word- A very good horse who in my opinion is better over 1m4, however, will have no problem here. If there was a really really good horse involved i’d say PW is beatable, but its probable there isn’t. Eve then, i think he’s short enough for me.

Can’t see beyond PW here but 13/8 with all them G1 winners is a bit skinny. GL to all those on bigger prices

    Roaring Lion for me .

The Eclipse winner has had a nice break since his Sandown exertions and should be ready to run the race of his life .

Having won the Dante over course and distance , I feel that experience , along with the weight for age allowance he will receive from Poet’s Word , will tilt the balance in his favour .

Not my usual kind of contest, but a very decent field this, and I’ve went with Latrobe 20’s each way, and also Benbatl at 12’s.

I’ve added Benbatl as a saver.

It was simply that the race was over C & D from his Dante win that made me fancy Roaring Lion over PW. More so than the 7lb he gives him even.

It’s a very interesting race that’s for sure.

I’m all over Poet’s Word here at 7/4, he’s a quality animal and I’m happy to play up what I won on him at Ascot last time.

Roaring Lion is for the only possibly vanquisher so have made him a saver bet at 3/1.

    Poet’s Word 7/4

    Saver: Roaring Lion 3/1

Just thinking that this track might be well and truly up Without Parole’s street and 16/1 looks fair enough.

Backed Saxon for this each way before stable bug. Too apprehensive to cash out in case he wins so will take my medicine either way.

Am on Poets Word and Benbatl. Does concern me a little there isn’t much pace in the race, Godolphin duo on paper the most likely to go on, although imo Latrobe might take it from the front (would have no chance in a test of speed). Hope they go a good pace for Poets Word. Most of these would have more speed in a sprint for home than the Stoute horse.

No damage done to the bank balance there but I do feel we’ve been robbed of a classic horse race.

    Wow Roaring Lion!

Do think Poet’s Word has proven there, well to me anyway, that he’s more effective over 1 mile 4.

Best horse won, no hard luck stories at all there.

Impressive from Roaring Lion there and yet again Saxon Warrior looked like a fish out of water. O’Brien must surely try him at a mile in a last ditch attempt to reinvent the horse.

I was a shade disappointed with Poet’s Word, he’s not quite lived up to it today.

I would recommend the 3/1 for the Champion Stakes on Roaring Lion after that. I can’t see Poet’s Word turning the form around. Saxon Warrior looks goosed and Cracksman won’t run.

I argued earlier against Without Parole as a top class horse and decried the St James Palace form. I am vindicated in my opinion after Gustav Klimt and Without Parole’s recent efforts. Some of those ratings need lowered now.

Roaring Lion Champion Stakes 3/1 looks the way to be headed.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Backed Poet’s, and not ideal getting blocked in when he wanted to force it. But may be he isn’t quite as good at 10f. Would’ve needed to be right at his best to beat Roaring Lion. Went perfectly for the Gosden runner. Might seem as though Thundering Blue keeps the form down; not sure on that at the moment. Rank outsider but came in to it with a progressive profile.

The Lion Roars and the three year olds just got better.
    Well done winners. :good:
