It’s the older ones involving racehorses I don’t have a clue about!

8 is (c). A bit of usless info, White Surrey was the horse of Richard III in the play, which also included the "a horse, a horse, a kingdom for my horse" line.

6 is not (a), but is from another one of Hitchcocks’ very well-known films.

    45. is (b) Ripon

I’m not entering, so if anyone needs 33, 35, 39 let me know

Apologies for not putting all mine up but I do this b*gger every year and have yet to come out of the hat. Drone ~ best stab so far but we disagree on one and I reckon I’m right. Seagull ~ like Brighton’s form over the last couple of seasons, very patchy!

    Pretty straightforward, eh. :?

Seriously, not as difficult as I thought it might be.

Q 14 is Chaos who John Randall wrote about when the anorak was asked by Mister McGoldrick’s owner if a horse had won more races at the same track. He told us about Chaos (a hunter chaser) winning all 10 of his races at Chepstow in the early 60s.

Rory – which one are you stuck on?

Adrian’s correct ~ oddly enough, Chaos only won two races at Chepstow but won both of them on five separate occasions!

I wasn’t entirely sure about the cartoonist with the grandfather who was a jockey but favoured Ronald "Carl" Giles as he definitely has some racing heritage and worked as a stable lad in his youth. I consider the weights questions the most likely to trip up the unwary btw.

The question about the weight for Mares in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle has thrown me a bit as if the answer is 11-9 why did Asian Maze carry 11-3 last year

The Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup weights were changed from the long-time 12-0 and 11-9 to 11-10 and 11-3 a few years ago.

Why this was done and why the mares’ allowance was increased I don’t recall.

Q 20 – Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup question is not exactly accurate (if as per page 1 of this thread). The answer will be A, 11-3 (11-10 less 7 lbs allowance) if talking about the oldest age group. In the Champion Hurdle a 4yo filly would carry only 10-9 and in the Gold Cup a 5yo mare would carry only 11-1

Q19 – Derby the answer is C. I’ve not looked back to see when it changed since Cape Verdi but it has.
