and on today’s showing wouldn’t be all that far off his previous best, all things considered.
How can you know that Reet Hard?????????? What was he beaten today, ten lengths?
His previous best was over 26F, so therefore I conclude it is completely impossible to know if he’s ran near to that – when he’s just been beaten 10 lengths in the John Durkan over 6 furlongs shorter.
If he can’t make ground on The Listener, what an earth would make you think he’ll have any chance of doing it against Denman?
Marb
You might conclude “it is completely impossible”, there would be little point in rating or betting horses if that was anything like the true case.
Maybe you should give it up?December 10, 2008 at 07:01 #195816To be fair, fists has said later on in the thread that he had backed Noland and was pretty confident he would win, prior to the race going off.

He also asserted that War of Attrition would be very hard to beat, Bulwark.
Still, he continues to make my every visit worthwhile.
December 10, 2008 at 10:40 #195821Fist, it was a average run from WOA mate, decent at best, i’m not contesting that. All I said was if they hadn’t gone so quick he would have been closer. FFS sometimes I give up.
SooryMarb but Ihave no idea what you are talking about I wasn’tdirectingmy post at you in particular:shock:
But I love your statement Marb It’s a cracker that people use often but sounds daft……."if they hadn’t gone so quick he would have been closer"
If they hadn’t gone so quick in last years Gold Cup Exotic Dancer would have won it
I fully understand what you are saying and it was nearer to a QMCC trial than it was to a Gold Cup trial…..This wind operation seems to have worked wonders with Noland…….he couldn’t get near Tidal Bay last season and you wouldn’t have dreamed about betting him to beat him in the Ryanair….Now he is fav…..The Listener is no pushover and obviously has retained the ability I thought he was losing so this is a huge improvement on anything Noland did last season….I think I would have to still be on the side of Tidal Bay but if Noland continues to improve it could turn out to be one of the best races of the meeting.
Incidentally I don’t know how other members feel? l but I find this seasons festival the most interesting for years…….Last years I found it easy to work out most races but apart from the QMCC it’s a lot more difficult this year. Ofcourse thatcould change but right now there are more than a few headaches out there

Hi mate I miss you some times wish you would post more often.
As you are my best buddy on here I am going to let you into a secret.
The day I have a large bet and don’t worry about something there will be a bue moon in the sky.I think to have concerns about any horse you are gambling considering backing is showing common sense……….and as we all know you fall short a bit in that department…keep your hair on I’m joking
You havea right to question meand I have noobjections to you doing so. the reason I bet him heavily was:- I not only thought he would win it was also a case of I thought The Listener and War of Attrition would lose and the latters jockey’s comments really sealed it for me. I was half wrong but the luck was in.
