    The recovery mission starts here.

Shattered Love makes appeal at 17/2 in her bid to be the first mare to win this. I’m a fan of hers and hopefully she’ll see this out. Finian’s Oscar looks to have been finally aimed at the correct race, the ground is a slight worry but I still can’t shake the memory of how he quickened back here earlier in the season. At 7/1 he’s just about a backable price for me.

Heard that on the podcast as well Mike007.

On Shattered Love yep, shes a 3miler, but as Ginge says this will be a test in its own right.

She’s susceptible to a top class horse, but is there one in this field? Hard to know.

Tough one this. Terrefort and Cyrname were 30 lengths ahead of anything else in the Scilly and there were decent types in behind. Cyrname could have bolted in by another 30 next time were it not for that big error so the form looks OK.
Invitation Only looks a bit short, ran well last time but I wasn’t much impressed by his victory before that.
Can’t say that I’m that impressed by Shattered Love on recent form ahead of and in behind Jury Duty either but she did have Presenting Percy over 12 lengths behind two starts ago.

It would take a lot to trust Finian’s Oscar to jump well enough but he does have class and the vibes around Benatar are that he will like today’s conditions but that still needs proving in my eyes.
I’ve had a go on Terrefort 5/2 to win with money back if placed. Ol’ Daryl Jacob has been a bit unfortunate with Sceau Royal and We Have A Dream being ruled out of the festival and Willie training Footpad. After such a fine season it would be a shame not to see him have a grade 1 winner at the festival in these colours.

Seems I’m not alone fancying Shattered Love. I was late getting
her on, she’s 5/1 now, but a boost from Ladbrokes at least gave an extra 1/2 point
    at 11/2.

Shes a great mare…On my other selection, Kemboy, a few bad jumps in there, but i don’t think the way he was ridden suited him, enjoys being more prominent..I understand the ride, as the ground probably means they were wanting to ride him quietly, but it didnt work out IMO.

I backed the same two, Jack; agree with you on Kemboy – should’ve raced closer. However, in running thought the same about Shattered Love; previously looked one paced and showed a lot more speed than previously. tbh I only backed her due to thinking it would be very soft ground suiting her stamina. Despite the 8mm of rain overnight the going is bordering on good-soft. Had I known that then tbh I wouldn’t have backed the winner!

EDIT: Apologies, RUK got the time wrong – ignore the above, it is in fact truly soft ground.

    Same old, same old.

I thought Terrefort had a chance after Invitation Only made a howler but you could see Shattered Love was going best from some way out and although some punters would have been hoping for a fall at the last, I don’t like winning that way.

Nice performance from the mare yet a bit ironic when Shattered Love was getting 6 lbs but was bigger than Terrefort

Terrefort didn’t look like he was crying out for 3 miles and I reckon the Ryanair might be a better target for him next year.

Well done winners and good to see well backed horses winning.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

The JLT form on show today with shattered love at Fairy House looks a very good race and will be interesting to see if she makes the running today.
