I have to laugh at SSR’s analysis of the first race at Lingfield today. I did not have a bet before anyone asks.
The favourite, trained by Fergal O’Brien and ridden by Fern O’Brien, finished third. The studio presenter said something like “maybe the favourite chased too strong a pace and hit the front too soon – but no blame attached to the rider”.
If it was not the jockey’s fault, who was to blame for being too close to a strong pace and committing too soon?
January 29, 2022 at 12:08 #1580357The winner of the first at Fairyhouse made a poor jump at the last. Hannon exclaimed in commentary that “he jumped it like a bag of hammers”.
That is a new one on me.
January 29, 2022 at 12:10 #1580360I was about to post that on here, made me laugh. He did it in his usual alarmed yelp when anything remotely exciting happens in the last couple of furlongs.
February 5, 2022 at 14:30 #1581502Do Richard Hoiles and Leonna Mayor actually watch the races? Hoiles didn’t pick up that L’Homme Pressé was jumping left until about four out, despite the fact that the horse had been doing it all race, while Mayor said that the horse had barely done it.
How do these people keep their jobs?
February 5, 2022 at 15:48 #1581524Also what has happened to Sandown Park? Fences that just come apart, the water jump covered with a grey board, previous quality races decimated.
The anchor is rubbish at ITV. Want to show children and too worried about falls.February 5, 2022 at 17:23 #1581547Not all bad. The presenters in the current Racing UK evening show makes ITV Racing Oscar winning. ;o)
February 5, 2022 at 19:02 #1581565Didn’t watch (was at Charing Point) but L’Homme Presse is forever jumping to his left – to be unaware of it is like not knowing a horse has four legs.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 6, 2022 at 10:30 #1581664I was out yesterday and working today so only had time to fast forward to the finishes of the big races.
Was there any mention of how poorly Nicholls horses are running? 2 winners from 42 runners in the last fortnight.
Really annoyed me last year that all racing channels kept discussing Tizzards horses without pointing out how badly the stable was doing.
February 6, 2022 at 10:34 #1581665Yes it was mentioned he had been a bit quiet but then he had an early winner with Dolos. May be just a blip with Nicholls whilst it seemed Tizzard’s whole season was bad.
February 6, 2022 at 10:45 #1581669Hoiles was keen to point out the Nicholls form on the morning line

February 6, 2022 at 11:05 #1581678That’s good to hear. I strongly believe there’s an issue as some have been running too poorly but most trainers go through this sort of patch and the Ditcheat runners will be back for dare I say it?
February 6, 2022 at 11:13 #1581684I’m on Henderson for the trainers championship so no need for Paul to rush his team back to form anytime soon..

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
February 6, 2022 at 12:00 #1581706Most of the Nicholls string have just recently had their annual flu jab so he is always a little quieter around this time of year – although old reliable Dolos came up trumps in what should now be considered his race (making his 5th appearance in it which has yielded three wins and two 2nd places).
Hendo the thick end of £400k behind in the title race so he will need to bag some of the big Festival prizes to turn that around – a long overdue National win would have a big say in it though.
February 6, 2022 at 12:11 #1581712LD camera on Hendo when Santini wins lol
February 6, 2022 at 12:30 #1581715Lol – especially if it beat one of his runners too!

I’m starting to wonder about some of those carrying my half crown each way!
