You’re right there TC. I was watching SSR until ITV started up and wondered how they would have fitted Bangor in as well
December 4, 2024 at 14:40 #1714718Could someone tell James Millman and whoever is the commentator at Ludlow today that Bass Rock in the 2.35 is pronounced as it is in sea bass, not as in bass guitar.
At least Macnae knew.
December 5, 2024 at 08:00 #1714749James Millman is generally excellent in my opinion. Makes informed and well thought out comments and is one of the best around at assessing the tactics of a race beforehand!
The disparity between abilities to be able to read what’s likely to happen in a race and assessing a horses chance between him and the likes of Megan Nichols or Jess Stanford is polar opposite.
December 5, 2024 at 08:57 #1714751Too much time analysing stats which only the racing nerds are interested in. Poor analysis after races too. The betfair chase was a belter but they were downplaying the win and the run of Grey dawning. Surely it was r pagiille superb at grinding it out and a tremendous first run by grey dawning on ground he’s unlikely to get in March. Too much emphasis on the here and now and not enough long-term. Grey dawning looks to have a decent ew chance in the gold cup, and John durkan told us that fact to file has developed but galopin is in good order. All about opinions of course but apart from a few good spots in the paddock and Jason weaver knowing his onions they sure don’t help the punter in the slightest.imho of course.

December 7, 2024 at 09:40 #1714859Matt Chapman acting like a deranged loon on the Opening Show.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 7, 2024 at 10:39 #1714876So MC is on one of his better days then?
December 7, 2024 at 13:06 #1714916A card featuring two Grade 1s and some decent handicaps – but ITV1 prefers to show a 1980s James Bond film.
I suppose that pleases ITV’s advertisers but is not so good for racing.
December 7, 2024 at 13:10 #1714917Surprised this card wasn’t on ITV1 I thought that is where all Grade 1s were going to be shown,
The more I know the less I understand.
December 7, 2024 at 15:03 #1714934I wonder if they expected it to be off so filled ITV1 with something else?
On another note Fitzy is a problem, almost switched off he was that annoying. Settled on the mute for a good chunk instead.
December 7, 2024 at 15:10 #1714938They are certainly pushing this David Power cup nonsense today.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 7, 2024 at 15:14 #1714942“On another note Fitzy is a problem”.
He is dreadful. About the worst pundit out there.
December 7, 2024 at 18:56 #1714970“They are certainly pushing this David Power cup nonsense today.”
It’s thoroughly depressing how much time they waste discussing it. Only 4 months to go and I’m sure it will be referred to in every programme many times between now and then.
No one apart from the participants and Chamberlin & Co are remotely interested in it and it’s a disgusting amount of money for already well paid jockeys, when it’s the owners and punters who keep the show on the road.
Paddy Power are certainly getting their moneys worth with all the mentions it’s getting on ITV racing.December 8, 2024 at 17:38 #1715024From Harry Cobden this afternoon in reference to the David Power rubbish:
“It’s a great initiative for the jockeys” Of course it is for the likes of you, Skelton, De Boinville etc. There’s only three or four jockeys that can possible win this, so the rich get richer. At random, this is not going to benefit the likes of Stan Sheppard, David Noonan, Craig Nichol, Patrick Wadge etc.December 12, 2024 at 00:47 #1715245If you have set up a series link to record ITV Racing via Virgin Media, you may find (depending on the VM box you have) the programme scheduled on Friday (Cheltenham/Bangor) is not going to record automatically.
For some reason it has been titled “STV Racing Live” in the electronic listings so, unless this is updated by VM, you’ll need to set it to record separately.
If you live in Scotland, this advisory can probably be ignored.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
December 14, 2024 at 23:35 #1715472Isn’t the Morning Show a nicer place without Chapman around.
Oli, Megan and Ruby very professional with Megan even asking Oli’s permission to ask Ruby a question prior to the break.
Chapman’s way of shouting his way through the show and acting like a prize plonker just makes me want to switch off and if he tips any horse I might have backed …. it’s time to cash out.
I think todays team are Keepers, pension the rest off including McCoy
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 15, 2024 at 09:23 #1715475Spot on Jac.
The more I know the less I understand.
