Some very funky, stylish indie/piano stuff going on with Ben Folds Five, or indeed just Ben Folds on his own. I heartily recommend it.

Even the Independent, who usually can’t be arsed with such obvious rubbish, ran a columnist one day saying "let’s just leave the poor guy alone to get over his problems", only to in the following week’s review have a full spread interview with him and his drugs "hell". A candidate for Private Eye’s scathing contempt if ever I saw it. <br>
I agree. We always get the NME but I’m getting sick of seeing their faces on the cover and new exclusive interviews inside. They keep saying they’re not condoning drugs, but they’re sure as hell making a big celebrity of the guy doing them!

December 16, 2004 at 08:22 #90213‘We’ve got the Razorlight album FU. Vice is my favourite. I’d love to see them live; I’ve heard they’re brilliant’
Burroughhill, Razorlight are ok live, saw them at Astoria, but still a poorman’s Libertines IMO. Lib’s are a superb experience live.
Currently listening to Libertines, Babyshambles, King of Leon (A.S.H is a v. good album and seeing them tonight!). Also like Delgardos.
Wilsonl, Tom Waits? Nice choice, personal favourites are ‘Step right up’ and ‘Burma Shave’.
December 19, 2004 at 20:04 #90214The Wedding Present – ‘Sticky’
Gedge has reformed his band – they’ve released so many albums that I didn’t have any – and I’m picking thru their back catalogue.
Interstate5 is a great new single with an album to follow in the New Year – anyone catch their short set on the Peel Tribute on R1 last Thursday?<br>Suddenly 2005 seems brighter!
February 6, 2005 at 00:47 #90215Quote: from Prufrock on 11:55 pm on Dec. 2, 2004[br]This might not play well with the posse, but I’m currently listening to Aphex Twin’s "Ambient Works" and am shortly going to put Boards of Canada’s "Geogaddi" on. I’m a bit of an ambient/experimental type but managed to segue Radiohead and Divine Comedy a bit earlier……….
So there.<br>
<br>"Geogaddi" is a mighty album, respect. As for Divine Comedy, his smugger-than-thou stuff annoyed as much as it delighted, but the recent "Absent Friends" is a career highlight, absolutely delightful.

Haven’t actually got Clubland 6 but my dad has bought it so I guess I’ll get a copy and check it out. (In case you were wondering my dad is into hard house and trance and usually nicks all my CDs!!!):o <br>
<br>Ach, this trance stuff defeats me completely. I prefer the old Detroit techno, mid to late 80s house music (whoever’s just released a mauled version of "Strings of Life" needs inhumanely destroying this instant!) and all that pummeling hardcore u know the score stuff from the early 90s.
Dance music interests me appreciably less nowadays, although some of the happy hardcore Peel played right up to his end kicks botty, and the odd bit of speed garage or gabba is always welcome.
