Oh, Sandi Thom needs to clear off as well.
Go on, shoo!
December 18, 2006 at 20:12 #104090I some how found a track for the chill out session called Messing around, buy Temper.
Its a tune!
December 19, 2006 at 11:43 #104091Zoz, Sorry I’m going to stand up for Twelve Stops and Home by The Feeling. I got it for my birthday in August and has been played most days since – all my family love it and I’ve rarely bought an album with so few duff tunes on it.
My other favourite band of the moment are the Magic Numbers – surely a triumph of substance over style (can’t believe anybody wants their pictures on their bedroom walls!).
December 19, 2006 at 17:35 #104092Each to their own Adrian!
I did like their first song, until it was played to death, but personally can’t be having anything they’ve released since.
:)
December 28, 2006 at 21:34 #104093He’s not around any more, but I still feel obliged to put together a Festive 50 of my fave tunes of 2006 in a John Peel stylee.
(The more observant will note many of the songs here were in the list I put on the Youtube thread, but I’ve chopped and changed a fair bit since then. I love my new music, me.)
Enjoy!

December 29, 2006 at 20:38 #104094Hurrah for Metric! Amongst others from the list.
Nicely listed, sir!
January 3, 2007 at 16:35 #104095That tune from the Klaxons only heard it recently after being berated for not having heard it.. Tune. The tie-dye rave gear in the video deserves a mention as well!
My pleasure!
"I fought the war but the war won’t stop for the love of God", etc. Ace video as well, if a little heavy on the blood.
Inevitably there were more songs from 2006 which sprung to mind as soon as I posted the list, "Happy As Annie" by Larrikin Love being one:

Can’t share the enthusiasm for the Klaxons, I’m afraid, Aragorn, nor do I suspect would the likes of the NME had they not already created their lazy-as "New Rave" movement and then realised they had to nail some bands to it. The video for "Magic", with the green liquid shooting uncontrollably out of everyone’s eyes, is quite interesting, though.
Fellow New Rave ™ act Hot Chip leave me cold for the greater part, although "Boy From School" wasn’t too bad:

January 4, 2007 at 15:24 #104097The video for Magic scared me a bit…it’s an eye thing!
On the whole I don’t dislike The Klaxons, their latest offering has some air of quality about it, and both I and a fellow indie/rock fan had to admit that some of their tracks ‘just work somehow’.
Hardly going to rush out and buy the album though.
Especially after being burnt by a spur of the moment album buy recently (not literally burnt, obviously)
Having heard a remix of a track by Death From Above 1979 I happened across the band’s album and decided to take a chance on it…bloody hell do I wish I hadn’t.
And the artwork’s rubbish.
Do I keep it and hope I come to love it, or even one track of it, or copy it in hope of that and take it back for a refund anyway?
None of this would ever have happened if they’d had Metric’s album in stock
Music Video wise…Muse, Supermassive Black Hole is a favourite, as is their Knights of Cydonia but I much prefer the former… Do wish they’d release Map of the Problematique if only to see what they come up with next video wise…Starlight obviously cost a bloody fortune but was hugely boring to watch.

January 4, 2007 at 22:38 #104098I’ve always thought the idea of combining dance and indie a good one which is probably why I liked it. It’s relatively simplistic but I dont mind that to be honest. I haven’t listened to a great deal of music lately but I heard a tune by some band (don’t know who they are the channel decided not to put any graphics up) doing a kind of ska/reggae streets type thing which I really liked. If anyone has an idea who that might be let me know!

Maybe,you don’t care.
But for me, it is New Order and Depeche Mode.
For a British gambler, wich music is the best to console him for the losses of the day????
April 26, 2007 at 22:11 #105100I don’t know about consolation but the theme tune from M*A*S*H can seem apt after a very bad day punting………………:(
April 26, 2007 at 23:19 #105101Not having a bad punting day is the trick .. if I did, it would probably be Prince, reminding me that you can be talented and rubbish at the same time.
April 27, 2007 at 14:18 #105102Jamie T – If you got the money
Harry Enfield – Loadsa Money
Obviously I never lose!!!! ;)

April 29, 2007 at 12:50 #105105I listen to random stuff on my Media Player, which is mostly trance, euphoria and club music.
At other times it’s a mixture of Texas, Alanis Morisette and a Classical selection, depending on what mood I’m in!
