After 16 pages and over 300 + posts , you think people would get off your back Escorial ……
I can see where everyone is coming from. If you make your monry that way but at the end of the day , once you make money who cares how…………
February 9, 2002 at 16:49 #97743The point of the exercise is to introduce punters who don’t know anything about creating a book to have the oppotunity to learn and it honestly looks as though Esc is better for it for starters.
Esc,
For the book software to be half decent the ratngs produced by the user have to be half decent and reasonable reached conclusions, so whatever your system Esc, it certainly seems good mate!
February 9, 2002 at 23:17 #97746hi, can I ask you carlisle do you use that set pattern to make your book, and if so how long would it take you to calculate an average handicap, and have you got a software program to help you ?
February 17, 2002 at 08:44 #97748Hi Paul
I am not the finished article yet…… I know what I want
to do, but doing it is another matter. It takes me about
three hours to do a 12 runner Hcp. I want to automate
the whole process one day.
A comprehensive database is needed to feed my analysis
programs. Thus rating the eight individual factors
previously mentioned. I have produced some
simple formulaes for most of the ratings. RecentPerf for
example uses the last 3 postmark(plus bestnotlast),
last 3 len+/-, last comment and days since run, topmark
being 20/20.
Raceform data export seems the best way to get the raw data I need. This will be a longterm project anyone interested?…………………..
Being able to operate in an efficient, robust & measured
way opens up alot of useful possibility, when it comes
to spotting value prices. Studying the outputs would be
so much more enjoyable…….(quicker)!

February 17, 2002 at 09:58 #97749Hi Carlisle, I am looking for easy ways to make a book, and the easiest way that i have come across so far is from the flatstats web site, for the flat/turf. the method will work on 2&3yo stakes races where the horses have little hiistory it works something like this.
1. find a 2 or 3 yo. stakes race
2. Find the sire’s % win rate, and divide by 3 to give you a basic rating. this will be between 0 & 10.
3. add or subtract 1 point to other factors in the race chosen, chose as many factors as you like. as below.
4. At what time of the year did the sire win most races? +1or-1pont
5 Sires going? +1 or-1
6 Sires preffered type of course flat /round / undulating/? +1 or-1
7 Sires class of race wins, A/B/C/D/E/F/G/? +1 or-1
8 Sires Distance wins? +1 or-1
9 those are the basics above but there is nothing stopping you from adding to this, say for instance, the offsprings own form so far ect.
10 For anyone interested further go to flatstats.co.uk
click on turf free samples. click on articals. scroll down to value betting and click. this will also show you how to make your own betting, and its very easy to understand.
February 18, 2002 at 09:32 #97750Hi Paul
thanks for your posting. It looks interesting.
Although it’s off my main consideration at the moment.
Breeding and trends will be useful at the final fine
tuning stage.
I will checkout the website. Cheers.
