Well done to those that backed the winner – he deffo deserved it as he has been threatening to win a biggie.
Giant Bolster was pants – jumped OK but looks handicapped to the hilt unless a drop in trip works the oracle.
And that is exactly what Great Endeavour requires! I’m not sure I’d want to back that grey at 3 miles….but anything over 2m 4f ish and he is dangerous.

November 26, 2011 at 23:42 #379864I’d say I fancied him but the truth is if you gave me 20/1 now I still wouldn’t back him.

No one could grudge John Oaksey this moment of glory this after what he has contributed to the game.
Congrats on a job well done!!

Nice of you to say so Steeplechasing. Belated well done to Grimes and Young Fella for tipping the winner, which is more than I did. Actually I did back Carruthers for the Hennessy.
Last year!

Second Saturday in a row I found myself grinning from ear to ear despite not backing the winner. Standing by the winners enclosure, the delight in everyones faces obvious; Mattie didn’t want to leave.
Great to see him ride a big winner, doesn’t get much opportunity. After the first turn I almost expected Mattie to take a sharp left on to the infield. Am only used to seeing him riding around Fontwell!
"Jocked off" at Cheltenham on reappearance and only on board because Fehily chose Michel Le Bon. Think Matthew has the ride for life now! Would be nice to see him go around Aintree, although Carruthers needs to improve his jumping. It didn’t go with his usual fluencey on Saturday, but that possibly meant didn’t use so much energy early. Noel overdid the front running tactics last time. There isn’t a family more deserving of a Hennessy Gold Cup than the Oakseys. Chicky at Newbury selling IJF Christmas cards. If it wasn’t for Lord Oaksey there might not have been an Injured Jockeys Fund. Fifty-three years after John Lawrence rode Taxidermist, he now has another Gold Cup.
Very emmotional day, what jump racing is all about. Brilliant!
