I am some judge
"
My main worry is nothing gets Diamnond Harry off the bridle and he wins in a hack canter which is not hard to imagine him doing with 10 stone on his back.
Against that it’d hard to imagine Denman not having everything at it by the 3rd last so I’ll go with Burton Port who may just have that bit more stamina about him to allow him to mow down Denman in the closing stages
"
So what do I do…I back both Diamond Harry and Burton Port in doubles which get beat… So I back Denman…Dumb springs to mind
November 27, 2010 at 15:44 #330167A big thanks to Bet365 from me!
Paid 1/4 odds 1st 5 and i had The Tother One at 33s and Niche Market at 40s.
Stepped back from backing DH though, as i wasn’t convinced his jumping would hold up! Won nicely to be fair.November 27, 2010 at 16:04 #330172I thought Diamond Harry was a hype horse…oh, how wrong I was!
Very pleased with Denman and Burton Port, though, great runs from both.

So don't run, just like the others always do
November 27, 2010 at 16:09 #330173Well all those picking the easy options of Denman got it wrong. I think Denman’s best days are behind him. My tip of Niche Market ran well and got fifth but at least I had the gumption to go for a longer price.
November 27, 2010 at 16:10 #330174On that race, last years novices seem to be stronger than I had thought. Makes it doubly sad that Weapons Amnesty is injured as he absolutely murdered DH and BP at Cheltenham.
I read a rumour on these pages that he my not be out for the season after all; is there any substance to this?November 27, 2010 at 16:14 #330175Diamond Harry beat Burton Port for speed, rather than staying power, and I’ll be surprised if he finishes anywhere near Burton Port.
Pandorama too, has to have a question mark against his ability to last home in this.Wow,our opinions are miles apart,i can see
Diamond Harry
skipping his way round with 10 stone on his back with Timmy Murphy taking a pull between every fence! My 2 Ante-Post Gold Cup horses
Weird Al
and
Burton Port
will both run big races as will
Pandorama
,all of whom are 2nd season chasers of the highest order! Silver by Nature has No Chance reet.not a prayer! There you go,i"m giving you yet another chance to make me look a D*ck! Surely one of these days you have to be right!
reet, one of these days you will realise! That Haydock race over brush hurdles was the key point to my assessment of this race from a long time ago!
Burton Port
is the better Cheltenham prospect of the two!! How does TAPK"s mind work?

You sound like you’ll need all the luck you can get, my friend.
Now go and clean your room.

Great race, didn’t back the winner but knew he’d be good if he jumped, he did it well and it’s something to look forward to.
Someone said Denmans best days are behind him, pfft, he’ll still be thereabouts on gold cup day, unless this lot improve he’s likely to finish ahead of them.
November 27, 2010 at 16:30 #330178I thought it was going to be Denman’s day when we lost BFT, MDB and Neptune so early, then Pando pulling up. Sadly the big horse couldn’t do it but what a race he had off top weight.
Congrats to Diamond Harry, his connections and those who backed him – it was a great victory.
November 27, 2010 at 16:33 #330180Congrats to Diamond Harry.
However, well done to Denman, one of my all time favourite horses, and he ran a massive race today, absolutely massive.
Well done to Denman, lost absolutely nothing in defeat.
November 27, 2010 at 16:37 #330181I’ve backed Denman and Weird Al, however the prices of Pandorama and Burton Port look very tasty at 8s, may have to have some on the latter, that was my largest fund of Cheltenham, him to win the RSA.
Had £10 on Denman and Wierd Al to win @ 5/1 each, just had £5 ew on Diamond Harry too.
Thankfully followed my head instead of my heart last night, 8/1. Diamond Harry was a nice little fund for the RSA last year with Burton’s Port.
What a run from Denman, looked like he loved every minute of it!
November 27, 2010 at 16:53 #330182I am impressed by Diamond Harry’s victory. He always looked to be easy, jumping very well.
Denman gave a tough battle in the final home straight, but what a great horse he is! 3rd with all this weight is a great performance.
November 27, 2010 at 17:28 #330188Was just wondering what people would be saying about Denman, if today he’d only just been beaten giving 35lbs to a horse that would then go on to be second in the Gold Cup. Having said that, he was magnificent today, but I do think he looked very tired afterwards. People will look back in wonder at him in years to come.
November 27, 2010 at 17:32 #330189Well done Harry fans, I just didnt think he would jump well enough to capitalise on the low weight. Wrong again not for the first or last time.
Pandorama’s 2nd fence blunder (hampering was redundant) made the race a bit of anti climax betting wise but a cracking spectacle.November 27, 2010 at 18:18 #330197The four who departed early screwed up my theory good and proper. That said, Diamond Harry looked good and to my eye was just dossing in front at the finish.
I was disappointed with Weird Al’s run especially as I knew that the stable were 100% happy with him. He ended up looking like a non stayer to me but perhaps the dead ground didn’t suit.
November 27, 2010 at 18:51 #330202Haven’t seen the race but sounds like Denman ran his heart out.
Be interesting what the plans are now for the winner
November 27, 2010 at 19:11 #330204Well all those picking the easy options of Denman got it wrong. I think Denman’s best days are behind him. My tip of Niche Market ran well and got fifth but at least I had the gumption to go for a longer price.

Those that did go go for Denman, Ante Post and even yesterday must have felt hard done by as 6/1 was available and even at the off he was 4/1.
I think Denman is a better horse than Kauto Star (who can’t jump but has be fortunate to find a leg when it matters. Most times.)
Yes I know that last statement sounds controversal but in his Gold Cup wins he always puts in a bad jump. He fell in the Queen Mother chase before he became a household name, and in the latest gold cup. Having said that he was still very good at the time of his wins, but on a personal note Best Mate was better when he was at his height.
Back to Denman and his Hennessy run he never dictated the pace which he did on his two wins. He did close at the business end, but in the past he’d have gone pass these with ease, and thats if he’d been behind them in the first place.
I only posted one or two post for Niche because the was others who like to blow their own horn on here, and they think their opinion are right and unwilling to listen to anyone else.
