Are they all kept in the same barn? Maybe some of them are somewhere “across the road” and could be a bit isolated….
March 12, 2024 at 17:22 #1685010If Sir Gino is strong maybe he shares a bunk bed with Luccia
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 12, 2024 at 19:01 #1685049Is there a vet looking at the horses prior to the start of the races? If not, what would be the reason for that?
March 12, 2024 at 19:59 #1685069Mark Walsh was bucked off, that’s why they showed the vet there, they would have inspected the horse as well
March 12, 2024 at 20:47 #1685084Only 1 of their 6 runners managed to finish their respective race today. Yes you can argue heavy ground played its part but bear this in mind, since 21 February he has had 20 runners and his form reads as:
12 Pulled Up
1 Winner
3 Placed
4 UnplacedHe has also had a few horses withdrawn on vets advice prior to races.
It would be interesting to note where in the yard the horses that have pulled up are stabled to see whether there is any kind of pattern to this (is it one particular area or not) but clearly a large number of the horses have been affected.
You couldn’t in all good consciousness back any of his horses now as the evidence tells you they are going to struggle to even complete the course let alone be competitive.
March 13, 2024 at 09:24 #1685224Seems he is now admitting a problem pulling three including Jonbon. If Jingko Blue doesn’t perform in the first I can see a mass withdrawal.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 13, 2024 at 09:53 #1685240I think it’s a reasonable decision; a combination of a possible bug going around some of the yard, soft/heavy ground – and as LD73 has highlighted, a poor recent record of runners pulling up.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled the lot out……
March 13, 2024 at 09:55 #1685241Shishkin out Gold cup to
VF x
March 13, 2024 at 10:12 #1685253Shiskin was my Gold Cup pick but at least that stops me thinking shall I or shan’t I.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 13, 2024 at 10:15 #1685254Champ also pulled from the Stayers.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 13, 2024 at 10:21 #1685259The latest ones with an unsatisfactory scope have been taken out, so I am assuming they were scoped after racing yesterday. Those ok (so far) still in. We will just have to see how those still in get on.
March 13, 2024 at 10:22 #1685262Pity for Shishkin. I like the horse but realistically that was his only chance in the Gold Cup. He will be 12 next year.
Only a matter of time before Sir Gino is out as well, I fear.
March 13, 2024 at 10:23 #1685265Perhaps Henderson might now realise making it all about one meeting is not a good idea.
March 13, 2024 at 10:26 #1685266Why change the habit of a lifetime? 🤔
March 13, 2024 at 11:22 #1685284I wonder if we’ll see Shishkin at Sandown in the Menorah,. and they’ll retire him afterwards.
March 13, 2024 at 12:11 #1685294What took him so long? And you have to admit that the virus the entire yard is having, including CH, is a pretty bad one and got them at the wrong time. This is far more serious than he admits and I doubt he’ll have them ready for Aintree. Since he doesn’t travel over to IRE, I guess we’ll have to wait until the end of November to see any of them in proper G1 action.
Shishkin’s career isn’t over yet, but what route do yo go next season with Gaelic Warrior aimed at the KG? He still seems lightly raced despite his age, but never had luck on his side.
March 13, 2024 at 12:21 #1685304Shishkin might not have had luck on his side but he won a Supreme, Arkle, Clarence House, Ascot Chase and Aintree Chase. I wouldn’t have minded owning him!
