Just hope to see Impaire Et Passe winning this in style. I’ll take Ashroe Diamond to finish second and will go for the SFC.
December 3, 2023 at 14:21 #1672608He’d probably prefer quicker ground, but it’s a bit quicker than last year and certainly better than the going on his last run, so I’ve gone with Zanahiyr again, ew 28s
December 3, 2023 at 14:32 #1672609Given how legless they’ve been finishing at Fairyhouse so far, any flaws in Impaire’s fitness are going to be exposed today.
December 3, 2023 at 14:43 #1672611Not really 100% fit. He looked more like Stayers’ material, not so much Champion Hurdle class.
December 3, 2023 at 14:45 #1672612Fair play to the winner, he matched IEP all the way up the straight and then just outstayed him in that ground – IEP needs to be dropped back to 2m as he was always doing a bit too much with Townend having to hold onto him for most of the race.
December 3, 2023 at 14:47 #1672613I backed teaphuto , Elliott is making hay while Mullins are needing a run
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 3, 2023 at 14:47 #1672614Agreed, LD. The winner simply outstayed the favourite. I’d still fancy Impaire to finish second in the Champion Hurdle.
December 3, 2023 at 14:48 #1672615Even if he’s dropped back to 2 miles, he still lacks the ease Constitution Hill shows when travelling through his races. I see no point why IEP should be aimed at the runner-up spot in March. He showed no signs of acceleration today.
December 3, 2023 at 14:49 #1672616Teahupoo was always going to be a big danger, took this last year upsetting a hot pot and does it again.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 3, 2023 at 14:52 #1672618True Ruby , that’s state man’s place anyway
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 3, 2023 at 15:03 #1672619Ruby – look how close they were bunched up on the home turn compared to where the 3rd ended up at the line (12L back), honestly I was a bit surprised that Teahupoo was able to go with him and that made it look like IEP didn’t quicken up.
He has no other options than the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham as the Stayers Hurdle will be too far for him and there are much better stayers he would be facing there anyway. A drop back to a strongly run 2m will suite him but they might need to look into getting a pacemaker as sometimes the 2m races can get tactical.
Have to say after this I was even more impressed with State Man’s return and I wouldn’t be certain that IEP would finish in front of him at Cheltenham as I was a little underwhelmed by State Man’s run in the Champion….at the moment CH holds all the aces and assuming he comes back (be it Sandown or Kempton) in the same way he started last year……they both have to improve a significant amount but as the saying goes…..you have to be in it to win it.
December 3, 2023 at 15:19 #1672624You could be right, LD. Only time will tell what today’s form is worth, but from my point of view IEP needs to travel a lot smoother through his races than he did today. He wasn’t really fit today, imo. But nevertheless connections will be considering plan B over hurdles.
December 3, 2023 at 15:24 #1672625Like last week the Mullins camp were very confident the horses were up for it and Patrick Mullins stated they would be very disappointed if Impaire Et Passe was beaten.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 3, 2023 at 15:43 #1672630Strong performance Teahupoo. Definitely the favourite for the Stayers Hurdle now, especially if it comes up a bit soft. Impaire et Passe never really could outspeed him and that should be worrying if he wants to challenge Constitution Hill.
December 3, 2023 at 16:46 #1672635Between the last two hurdles was one of those moment’s of truth. How would last year’s novice form stand up? Was IUP really as good as he had looked? Still a decent run, competitive event, winner talented in his own right with a good course record, left the rest of the field well behind, but a bit disappointing all the same.
Shame Nicky didn’t consider sending CH for this one or the Morgiana; the Irish Sea isn’t a oneway systemDecember 3, 2023 at 17:17 #1672637Well said, bf. Remember when Large Action won the race 1st time out back in 1996. Master Beveled went over there twice, but somehow after Istabraq and the James Bowe domination at the beginning of the new millennium British raiders were non-existent.

If Nicky skips the Fighting Fifth, I really feel CH should be going for the Irish Champion in February.
Such a waste if he only runs 3 times this season.
