Judge, everybody who ever gambles regularly has had a terrible run at gambling……its a horrible horrible place to be and when it happened to me I took myself off to GA which enabled me to take an 18 month sabbatical from the game (something I couldn’t do previously)….it gave me some perspective and understanding of what makes me do the wrong things. Now I can bet just for the fun and enjoyment without it impacting hugely (either positively or negatively) on my life. Also, to echo other posters here the only sport I bet on is Horse racing……absolutely nothing else.
April 30, 2017 at 22:56 #1299031I know what you are saying Joe but I don’t like losing. I don’t like failing and walking away now would be failing. I can’t get out until I have that big win.
Hardy what I don’t understand is that you claim that you’ve been to GA but surely in that case you’d have to go cold turkey?
April 30, 2017 at 23:02 #1299034I don’t have access to Racing Uk or anything like that so have to uses what resources are available and there are quite a few.
Triptych, this site shows most of the UK flat racing everyday free
Thanks botchy I’ll keep that one on my desktop

Judge..walking away now wouldn’t be failing it would be being strong and you are just kidding yourself if you think you will walk away after a big win…think again about how much you might have to stake to achieve it and start taking steps to stop straight away.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 30, 2017 at 23:43 #1299039Judge, You’re exactly right,I did go cold turkey on a betting front (for about 18-24 months) but I still watched every single race I could although I wasn’t betting….I guess because I just love the sport and couldn’t fully walk away….…I also love golf, Gaelic football and rugby but for some reason I have never wanted to have a bet on them………I used GA as a medium to get a grasp (through other people experiences as well as talking through my own) on why I was losing control at horse racing and it was having a negative impact on my life….returned to having a bet about 2 years ago and so far so good

I failed in my first Business Judge, i was realistic that it was not going to succeed and i was going to lose a lot more if i did not stop it. It had no debts but i could not pay the overheads and get a wage out of it for myself.
Best decision i ever made, as i learnt so much from it. Nothing wrong with failing at anything Judge, regretting trying or being ruined is far worse.
May 1, 2017 at 09:05 #1299062I’m not going to walk away as I feel like I’m a good punter… I just feel that I’m on a bad run.
That was the point of this thread really, to highlight the possibility of having a terrible run at gambling.
I do need to tighten up the betting though and minimise my losses for example on golf.
May 1, 2017 at 23:49 #1299155I am going a horrendous run with golf, that has had some proper gubbings, but just have to keep telling yourself it’s all variance and will even itself out in the end.. Hopefully!
